YouthLink's YPB strives to have a diverse membership when it comes to cultural background, race, ethnicity, gender expression, sexuality, ability, socioeconomic status, and life experiences. 

Commitment & Terms:
The YPB meets monthly. Members should plan on attending 9 out of 11 scheduled meetings each year. The current board has been meeting on last Thursday evening of the month from 5 PM- 6PM. Meetings alternate between in-person at YouthLink and virtual. Members are expected to volunteer time outside of the monthly meetings as well; for example, to fulfill work related to fundraisers or special projects. Members are appointed to a two-year term. Each member may have their term extended for one additional year.

We’re seeking an individual or community organization with experience in leveling and laying brick, as well as the physical ability to lift, bend, and kneel as needed for this type of project.  The patio is 12x10 feet and not the entire area needs to be repaired, only a portion of it. 

In addition to skilled volunteer support, we are also hoping to partner with a group or organization that may be willing to donate or help offset the cost of necessary materials.

o   Bi or Multi-lingual volunteer to connect with residents with cultural backgrounds from Cambodia, Vietnam, China; lead activities or do one-to-one visits or reminiscing projects

These are used as prevention and education moments. When frostbite causes skin damage and loss of the capillary system, individuals may have to be admitted to our Level 1 Burn Center where their wounds can be treated. Community paramedics try to prevent the number of cases by engaging individuals where they are at and distributing these kits to unhoused individuals or those in need.

Every week the Interfaith Outreach and Community Partner's (IOCP) Food Shelf serves 200+ households - a small portion of which are home bound or lack reliable transportation and have a hard time accessing food. Home delivery drivers help meet this need by picking up prepacked orders from IOCP and dropping them off to recipient's doorstep. Note, many deliveries will require entry into an apartment complex or building to deliver to the recipient's door.

Assisting in the Art Studio. Greet visitors and introduce the daily activity, help maintain supplies and workspaces, engage visitors in their artwork using museum learning guidelines, and assist facilitators in running special pop-up programs.  

Assist with prep work for the galleries and The Studio.  This could include cutting materials such as paper, fabric, cardboard or yarn down to specific sizes, sorting materials, prepping clay, etc.  

Play Guide Volunteers choose their shifts online for them to attend on Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, and Saturday shifts. Each day typically has a morning shift, 10am-1pm and an afternoon shift, 1-4pm. Volunteers also have the opportunity to stack shifts on the same day if they wish to complete more hours for a course requirement in a shorter period or simply wish to extend their shifts. If Play Guide volunteers come as a pair, group of friends, or family, they can be stationed together- providing that there is no need for them to be elsewhere and they are productive together and not distracted.

During the pandemic older adults who were already experiencing isolation suddenly became further challenged to remain connected when they were cut off from the outside world. In best efforts to alleviate the devastating loneliness, Tech for Seniors was launched. Volunteers pre-load donated tablets with video conferencing software, networking opportunities, several mind-occupying apps, and other entertainment options. The in-store purchasing function may also be disabled so less tech savvy seniors are not exploited by scammers.

Tech for Seniors, a program of Gifts for Seniors, offers two programs in pursuit of our mission to alleviate social isolation and loneliness.

Our Partner Tablet Program provides shareable tablets and support programs to aging service providers. The Senior Tablet program provides a tablet and services for older adults who live independently.
