Every couch moved, apartment painted, shelf assembled, or flower planted helps create spaces where people can feel safe, welcome, and at home.

We're looking for volunteer groups of 5–15 people to tackle hands-on projects across Avivo's sites. Whether you're hauling furniture, assembling new pieces, sprucing up outdoor spaces, or helping refresh apartments with a fresh coat of paint, your team's work has an immediate impact.

We'll provide the project. You bring the energy (and maybe a few punny jokes). Most projects take about 3 hours and are perfect for corporate teams, community groups, or friends looking to make a tangible difference together.

Opportunity: Individuals/groups are needed for seasonal yard clean-up. Raking, planting flowers, weeding, mulching, trimming of trees and hedges. Some equipment and supplies provided but we may encourage large groups to bring extra gloves and rakes. Dates, locations, and times are flexible and can be worked out to fit your group's schedule. Join staff, volunteers, board members, foster and adoptive families, and community supporters as we refresh and beautify EVOLVE's Oak Park Heights campus.

Great River Greening engages thousands of volunteers each year in hands-on restoration, environmental conservation, and community science-based programming. Our volunteer events take place across Minnesota, with a focus on the Twin Cities metro area, central Minnesota (from Blaine to Brainerd), and throughout Southern Minnesota.

We invite you to join our dedicated Volunteer Supervisor team as we expand restoration efforts across the state. As a Volunteer Supervisor, you'll develop valuable leadership and restoration skills while helping to lead and motivate groups of volunteers at our spring and fall restoration events.

Become a Volunteer Supervisor and help lead habitat restoration efforts with Great River Greening!

Volunteer Supervisors oversee small groups of around 10 volunteers during hands-on restoration projects. These activities typically include planting native grasses and forbs, tree and shrub planting, controlling invasive species, and broadcasting seeds.

The in-person training will be held at our main office in St. Paul.

In-person training is August 18 or join us virtually on August 20th, 2026 for an online training session!

No scientific or natural resource experience? No problem! While knowledge in these areas is helpful, it is not required. All training and resources will be provided. Gain new skills while making a real difference in Minnesota's natural spaces.

Volunteers will support early restoration efforts on a newly acquired park addition and assist with an expanding prairie demonstration garden near the park office.

Activities will include removing invasive species using loppers and foldable hand saws. Participants will also learn about native plants, prairie restoration, and invasive species management.

This event is open to all, and any necessary training will be provided.

Day of: Please arrive promptly, allowing time for parking and a short walk.

There will be light snacks and extra water available during the event. Please bring your own reusable water bottle. In addition, bring your work/gardening gloves if you have them, if not they will be provided.

Safety: Ensuring safety is our highest priority. It is important that event participants wear close-toed shoes and long sleeves to protect against the elements. We recommend dressing for the weather; layers are key.

Do you have a passion for and knowledge of landscaping or gardening? If so, we'd love your help!

We are looking for a volunteer who can help us identify what spring cleanup should be done at our Whelping and Growth Center in New Germany, Minnesota, about 45 minutes west of the Twin Cities.

In this role, you would start by assessing the area and creating a plan. After you have created a plan, we would set up a date for you to lead other volunteers in completing the project as a group. If you'd like, you could continue providing periodic assessments and upkeep of the area throughout the summer.

The Operation Pollination website - partner of the new Earth Network Rotary Club needs a few hours of pro bono help updating our website so new Rotary District Governors can direct their members to sign up.  So far, more than 200 gardens have been created on six continents because of this Operation Pollination project.  There are 535 districts worldwide each with 2000-3000 members.

Once known as America's greatest shade tree, the American Elm lined streets, shaded parks, and towered over forests across the continent. Then Dutch Elm Disease devastated the species, eliminating millions of trees and transforming landscapes throughout North America.

Today, a pioneering partnership involving the University of Minnesota is helping answer an important question:

Can disease-resistant American Elms once again thrive in natural forest settings?

The Green Crew is seeking 2–3 exceptional youth leaders to serve as American Elm Restoration Fellows and help steward one of the first long-term field studies of its kind.

This is not a typical volunteer position.

As an American Elm Restoration Fellow, you will help care for and monitor a living collection of disease-resistant American Elms while contributing to a restoration effort that could help guide the future of American Elm conservation. You will become part scientist, part steward, and part conservation leader—helping ensure that these trees survive, thrive, and continue to inform restoration efforts for years to come.

As an American Elm Restoration Fellow, you will:

American Elm Restoration Fellows serve for approximately 12 months.

Most activities occur on one to two Sundays per month, with occasional additional opportunities for monitoring, stewardship, training, and special events.

Fellows work alongside experienced conservation mentors and members of the Green Crew leadership team. Youth leaders are given real responsibility while receiving guidance, coaching, and support throughout the year.

No previous forestry or research experience is required. Curiosity, commitment, and a willingness to learn are far more important.

The Green Crew is an award-winning, youth-led conservation and environmental leadership program based in Bloomington, Minnesota. Youth leaders design and lead projects that restore habitats, improve water quality, engage communities, advance scientific research, and inspire the next generation of environmental stewards.

By the end of your fellowship, you'll be able to say:

"I helped steward one of the first field studies exploring whether disease-resistant American Elms can be successfully restored to natural forests. I monitored trees, contributed to conservation research, and helped advance the recovery of an iconic American species."

Only 2–3 American Elm Restoration Fellows will be selected each year.

Storm water carries trash pollution and leaves which contributes to the green algae that forms on our lakes. Just keep the top of the drains clear when you can, it's easy to do several drains in an intersection near your home.

Join your neighbors and the CIDNA Environmental Committee for a community clean-up of Lake of the Isles!
Meet at W. Lake of the Isles Pkwy & W. 28th St to grab supplies. Then head out to clean up along the shore line and take care of our community!

You may want to wear tall boots to reach trash at the edge of the lake. Please be cautious as we sometimes find sharp objects.

Bring your friends and family! You are welcome to bring your canoes and kayaks.

Our clean-ups are Park Steward events, the Park Board asks that volunteers sign a waiver once a year. Use this link or sign one at the clean up.  MPRB Waiver

Corporate and group volunteers are welcome to assist with projects such as building beautification, assisting with large art pieces for our Art Speaks program, and gathering supplies to assemble kits for the people we serve.

We request that groups donate or provide supplies needed to complete the project.

Our gardens are lovely this time of year and our Episcopal Homes residents need one-to-one visitors to take them to enjoy the flowers around campus.  We would love to match you to some interesting people!  This is primarily pushing folks in wheelchairs and enjoying the Minnesota summer weather.

Do you love getting your hands in the dirt and planting flowers, herbs, and vegetables? Our Episcopal Homes residents are looking for strong volunteers to help with the digging, kneeling and lifting to get their garden plots in ship shape for the growing season mid-May to mid-October. We are also looking for a volunteer to help with watering the pretty flowers at our courtyard and patio gardens with long-term care residents during the summer months.

If you prefer an indoor option, we would love a couple of volunteers to help with Friday afternoon preparation 3-5pm filling the vases with water and food. On Saturdays we are looking for a couple more substitute drivers to pick up Trader Joe's flower donation and deliver it to Episcopal Homes from 9-10:30am. Also on Saturdays, we need a few more co-leaders to help with the flower arranging and leading the other volunteers 9:30-11:30am. These lovely bouquets are then shared across the campus in our public spaces for all to enjoy!

We are looking for a compassionate and empathetic person able to handle repairs and maintenance tasks across Agate’s portfolio of properties. This includes properties where the volunteer might interact with people currently experiencing or who have experienced homelessness.

This role supports Agate's mission and saves crucial dollars on simpler repair work. These dollars can instead be focused on our programming to fight homelessness. This role will include special site-specific project implementation in collaboration with property managers.

Applicants with lived experience with homelessness and/or experience working with people experiencing homelessness, including LGBTQ+ community members, are a plus--but not a requirement.

Help us tackle our to-do list! Volunteer at Gibbs Farm on select Friday Mornings and Tuesday Evenings during the 2026 season. The outdoor projects change weekly usually planting, watering, weeding, harvesting, light landscape and orchard projects.

Great River Greening is holding trainings for this summer's community science initiative, counting pollinators at our restoration sites. Volunteer monitors will “adopt” a park and conduct 30-minute pollinator surveys independently four to six times from July through September.

At these 1 hour trainings, you will learn how to differentiate four categories of Minnesota's pollinators--bumble bees, butterflies, honey bees, and more!

Art, Heart and Hoofbeats - Equine Rescue and Sanctuary is a non-profit 501(c)3 organization that runs entirely on donations. We are always on the look out for help in procuring monetary donations and sponsorship, both private and corporate. We also often need individuals to collect donations of goods and services for special events (for example, gift cards and items for silent auctions). We have also received many wonderful donations from clubs, groups, and individuals who have chosen to hold a “AHH Benefit” Event. Some ideas for this would be fun shows, tack sales, rummage sales, bake sales, or informational booths at local feed or tack stores. If you are interested in holding this sort of fundraiser to help the horses and people served at AHH, please let us know!

This role involves helping plan plant selection, layout, and water flow to create an attractive and functional space that manages stormwater naturally. Hearts & Hammers provides volunteer opportunities for teams, groups, corporations and churches. Depending on the home and the work required, gather 10-50 volunteers for one day to paint, provide minor repairs, and yard renewal. Volunteers leave the site at the end of the day with a sense of accomplishment, pride and a feeling that they helped someone in the community. In addition, the team builds comradery and strengthens relationships within the group. Homes can be anywhere in the 7 county metro area. Program days can be chosen by the team anytime between June 1 and October 1.

The Bakken Museum sits on nearly three beautiful acres of land on the west side of Bde Maka Ska.  Our unique urban landscape includes some major surprises for garden enthusiasts, including prairie and wetland restoration areas, a medicinal plant garden, an organic vegetable garden, and much more.

There is much to be done year-round to maintain and enhance our gardens and grounds, though the majority of the effort takes place May-October. Work includes planting in-pots and in-ground, spring site preparation, weeding, watering, pruning, installing bird feeders, and so much more. Jobs range from mild primping to more strenuous projects. We invite volunteers to join for regular weekly work on Saturday mornings. Additionally, we can host groups of up to 50 people to support gardening and landscaping efforts.

We welcome your group of up to 15 volunteers to Lend-a-Hand at RMH-Oak Street in Minneapolis. Projects are two hours long and scheduled anytime between 10:00am - 4:00pm on weekdays. Lend-a-hand volunteers have a major impact on the look and feel of the House. Volunteers can expect to help with anything from light cleaning and organizing, to event preparation or landscaping. Your group’s projects will be determined a few days prior to your event and will depend on the greatest needs of the House at that time.

Requirements for onsite activities: Volunteers must be at least 14 years old; in addition, groups with individuals between 14-17 years old must also include at least one 18+ individual who is out of high school. Volunteers must bring a driver's license or state ID which will be scanned by Lobby Guard upon arrival for a quick criminal background check.

Hands on volunteer opportunities- many of the equines at the AHH farm have come from neglect or abuse situations, they often have trust issues or are relatively unhandled at intake. Because of this, we are only able to offer these “hands-on” opportunities to volunteers who are willing and have time to learn about our horses. For safety reasons we are not able to allow volunteers to ride horses at the AHH farm. 

FamilyMeans Landfall’s Investigation Station is looking for a volunteer to help clean up the garden and get it ready for winter. This position is flexible on the time. 

Enjoy some fresh fall air and sunshine while helping older adults keep their lawn looking great! This service also provides social interaction and offers peace of mind for loved ones and caregivers.

Go solo or bond with family, friends and neighbors

Youth ages 7 to 15 may volunteer with an adult. Ages 16 and older may volunteer on their own.

Volunteer Opportunity: Barn Beautification and Maintenance

Join us as a volunteer at Open Farms! No matter your experience level, we would love your help growing delicious organic produce to nourish our neighbors. Volunteers can expect to take part in all aspects of work on our urban farms. This includes composting, forming beds, seeding crops, planting seedlings, mulching, weeding, and harvesting. Work varies based on the time of year.

The Master Water Stewards program certifies and supports community leaders to protect and improve the health of MN's water. Wherever you live, you can join over 250 Master Water Steward volunteers and work in our own community to contribute to the millions of gallons of polluted stormwater that stewards are keeping out of our lakes and rivers each year.

Everything on city streets flows to our water- bacteria, salt, litter, sediment, fertilizer. Each year, more polluted runoff reach our lakes and rivers faster, causing flooding downstream. Pollutants are not being filtered or broken down by passing through the soil, making water dirtier.

Help our community elders safely enjoy their yards this spring and summer! Tasks include raking up leaves, bagging up yard waste, and taking yard bags to the compost site. We welcome individual volunteers and groups to help us provide this much-needed service to older adults. This is a very flexible opportunity – we can work with your availability to schedule your volunteering.

Our mission is to enable all young people, especially those who need us most, to reach their full potential as productive, caring, responsible citizens.

Voyageur Environmental Center, a year-round residential camp located in Mound, MN, provides vital access to nature and adventure for Twin Cities youth. Every spring and fall, we need volunteers to assist with pre- and post-season clean up including cabins, lodge, a commercial kitchen, various program areas, trail, garden and beach maintenance, firewood cutting/stacking and other facility improvement projects. We need volunteers aged 15-up (12-up with adult) to complete this project seasonally. During the summer, we need volunteer assistance with ongoing brush clearing around the cabins, weeding/trimming, and trail maintenance.

This is a great opportunity for team-building, a mission-oriented family/friend experience, or a group service project. Should your group choose, this can become an ongoing opportunity to support our work with Twin Cities youth!

We are always looking for groups who are willing to donate their time to the Boys & Girls Clubs. Your group could assist with programming in our three priority areas: Academic Success, Healthy Lifestyles, and Good Character & Citizenship. Activities include homework help, assistance and mentorship during academic programming, recreation, athletics, college and career readiness, and art. We also welcome groups who have a special skill or talent that they would like share with our Club members. Group volunteering can be youth-focused or project-focused (i.e. painting, clean up, etc.). Your group could also plan a special event for our youth, for example: Track and Field Day, Bingo Night, Game Tournament, etc.

Typically there is not a time commitment for group volunteers, however there is an option for your group to volunteer regularly if you are interested.

Program hours during regular school days take place from 2:00-9:00pm; most need for volunteers is between 2:00-7:00pm. Program hours during any day that school is closed (i.e. summer break, spring break, winter break, etc.) take place from 8:00am-5:30pm. All programming occurs Monday-Friday.

There are various Club sites throughout the Twin Cities, including 5 Clubs in Minneapolis, 3 Clubs in Saint Paul, and 2 Clubs in Richfield, in addition to our residential camp (Voyageur Environmental Center) in Mound, MN.

The Minnesota Hemp Farmers & Manufacturers Association is a newly recognized 501(c)(3) organization in Minnesota. We have amended our by corporate bylaws to begin accepting members and sponsors and are looking for an experienced attorney to look them over and edit as needed.

The Midtown Farmers Market is in need of volunteers for the 2018 season! As a local, community driven market determined to bring fresh, delicious, locally sourced food to the Corcoran and South Minneapolis community we depend on community volunteers like you.

Volunteers are needed for 2-4 hour shifts every market day (Saturdays 6am-1pm) to assist with processing SNAP-EBT token and credit card token sales, compost and recycling education, set-up and tear-down of the market, customer counts, and customer engagement. Bring a friend, family member, or work group and make a fun day of it!

This position is responsible for supporting the Facilities Coordinator. This hands-on position will allow the volunteer to support Casa de Esperanza’s cause of providing a refuge for Latinas in our community. The volunteer will be in charge of maintain a clean and welcoming environment at El Refugio, our women’s shelter.  Willingness to accept any odd job is necessary attitude for this position.
