We need help with our warehouse inventory!

 

Meet donors/donations at the dock door, taking in household goods and furniture. Load trucks for our delivery team. Unload trucks as they return from residential and corporate pickups. Help us restock the shelves after shopping has been completed. Be prepared for a workout, get your steps in, and lift stuff (both light and heavy)!

 

Shifts are in 3 hour increments available Monday through Thursday from 9:00am to Noon, 12:00pm to 3:00pm and 3:00pm to 6:00pm and Friday through Saturday from 9:00am to Noon and 12:00pm to 3:00pm.

 

We are especially in need of volunteers for the 3-6pm weekday and 9am-3pm Saturday shifts.

 

We ask that you first come in for a tour of our warehouse so that you can get a scope of what we do. Tours last 20 to 30 minutes.

 

Volunteers must be 14 years of age or older.

Food insecurity is a crisis in our community and it has been accelerated by cost of living increases. An incredible 1 in 8 of our neighbors are in danger of going hungry. SACA needs weekly volunteers to help support our neighbors who depend on these services. Your dedication of time means the world to us and to the people we serve. We are in need of weekly volunteers Monday to Thursday who can commit to 2-4 hours to help with cleaning our facilities.

What you provide as a FamilyWise board member: 

Institutional stewardship – Be one of the steady pairs of hands steering our organization. Your presence on our board helps us ensure that we continue to serve our communities with integrity and respect.  

Fiduciary accountability –  Provide oversight of FamilyWise’s >$3,000,000 annual budget.  

Strategic planning – Help guide FamilyWise through iterative strategic planning as we continue to explore how we can best serve our clients.  

What you can expect as a board member of FamilyWise: 

Commitment: 

Board members serve for at least two years, and support the recruitment of a new board member to fill their role upon their departure.  

Board members are expected to attend two meetings per month:  

Monthly full-board meetings occur on the second Monday of the month at 6 pm. Full-board meetings alternate between business meetings (in which board members make strategic and financial decisions) and learning meetings (in which board members explore topics related to the services FamilyWise offers).   Additionally, board members serve on one of three committees, including marketing and development, finance, and board governance. Board members determine the meeting times of their respective committees  

While our full board meetings are often held at our main offices on University Avenue in Minneapolis, board members have the option of attending meetings virtually.     

Fundraising/Contributing: 

As a driving force behind our fundraising efforts, board members contribute financially to the extent they are able.   

Board members regularly donate in a variety of ways, including recurring donations via employer matching programs. We also ask board members to participate in fundraising efforts on an ongoing basis; examples include, leveraging their professional or personal networks, and assisting with planning our two major yearly fundraising events.

FamilyWise is looking for board members who are hardworking, curious, and committed to serving their community. About the Position

What you provide as a FamilyWise board member: 

Institutional stewardship – Be one of the steady pairs of hands steering our organization. Your presence on our board helps us ensure that we continue to serve our communities with integrity and respect.  

Fiduciary accountability –  Provide oversight of FamilyWise’s >$3,000,000 annual budget.  

Strategic planning – Help guide FamilyWise through iterative strategic planning as we continue to explore how we can best serve our clients.  

What you can expect as a board member of FamilyWise: 

Commitment: 

Board members serve for at least two years, and support the recruitment of a new board member to fill their role upon their departure.  

Board members are expected to attend two meetings per month:  

Monthly full-board meetings occur on the second Monday of the month at 6 pm. Full-board meetings alternate between business meetings (in which board members make strategic and financial decisions) and learning meetings (in which board members explore topics related to the services FamilyWise offers).   Additionally, board members serve on one of three committees, including marketing and development, finance, and board governance. Board members determine the meeting times of their respective committees  

While our full board meetings are often held at our main offices on University Avenue in Minneapolis, board members have the option of attending meetings virtually.     

Fundraising/Contributing: 

As a driving force behind our fundraising efforts, board members contribute financially to the extent they are able.   

Board members regularly donate in a variety of ways, including recurring donations via employer matching programs. We also ask board members to participate in fundraising efforts on an ongoing basis; examples include, leveraging their professional or personal networks, and assisting with planning our two major yearly fundraising events.

Duties and Responsibilities

Help provide a safe and enjoyable experience to all park visitors. Provide directions and help answer questions. Assist in an emergency if you are onsite. Carry a cell phone with you while on patrol to be accessible to visitor center contact.

 

Qualifications

Must be 16 years old or older. Good physical fitness and customer service skills. Must provide your own equipment. Completion of all required training. Complete a background check with the county (if applicable).

STAR House opened this month as a crisis nursery serving children in Ramsey County. We provide 48 hours of safe, welcoming care to children and resources for parents as they navigate the immediate crisis. STAR House needs community input to ensure that children and families experience our house as a home. 


What is the Community Advisory Board?

The STAR House Community Advisory Board will provide insight, knowledge, and recommendations to ensure that the families and communities we work with provide direction and input to inform and elevate the quality of services provided and organizational direction. STAR House needs the voices of community members who have accessed family services and members of Ramsey County’s racially and culturally diverse communities. 


Topics that STAR House will request advisory board member feedback and guidance on may include: providing feedback on the organization, input on projects to support children and families, monitor how programs are working and evaluate strengths, weaknesses, and changes needed, how to grow a positive public persona to effectively reach Ramsey County families, service projects


Who can serve on the Community Advisory Board?

Our hope is to have a Community Advisory Board which represents the racial and cultural diversity of Ramsey County. Advisory Board members will have a variety of experiences, knowledge, and skills which may include:

Experience accessing or providing family services

Experiences with poverty or serving families experiencing poverty
