We have two new openings for Groups Assistant Volunteers! 

This is a recurring weekly volunteer shift where you will be scheduled for either Wednesday or Thursday mornings 8:45am- 11:45 am. We are asking for anyone interested to be able to commit to at least the next two months until May. Let us know if you're interested in volunteering for either or both days!


You will always be scheduled to work alongside group staff. They will ask for your help with any of the following tasks:

This role is based in the basement workshop props area and supports an ongoing cleaning cycle of more than 2,500 items, especially during travelling exhibit changeovers that occur three times each year. There is always something that needs care, so dedicated time and attention make a big impact.

Volunteers will follow a documented cleaning guide that includes prop introductions, sink tips, and washing techniques to ensure items are handled properly.


Schedule:
Recurring Weekly Shift/s

1–2 volunteers per shift, Wednesday–Sunday, anytime between 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM (2-hour minimum shift)


Requirements & Ideal Experience:

Must wear closed-toed shoes in the workshop

Comfortable with hands-on cleaning and prep tasks

Looking for a great volunteer project for your group of friends or coworkers? Volunteering as a group in a Bridging warehouse will make a huge difference to families pursuing housing stability. 

Group size: 5-25 volunteers

Shifts: 2-3 hours in length

Weekdays: Most weekdays any time after 1pm. (1-4pm, 2-5pm or 4-6pm) 

We require all volunteers to be 14 years of age or older in our warehouses.

TYPICAL PROJECTS INCLUDE: Sorting through donated goods, loading and unloading trucks, general warehouse organization, rolling linens, and/or stocking shelves for client shopping. Specific projects will be determined on the day you arrive based on the inventory, our needs that day, and the final size of your group.

WHEN CAN I BOOK A GROUP PROJECT? Book year-round. Pick a date, time and location (Bloomington or Roseville) for your event. All groups must be scheduled in advance.

Volunteer: Attend State Fair with Residents

We are looking for volunteers to join us at the State Fair for a unique volunteer opportunity!

Our organization is across the street from the State Fair grounds and on the first day of the fair (Thursday August 27, 2026) we accompany our residents from Lyngblomsten Care Center to the fair for a few hours.

Here is some important things to know:

Time commitment for volunteers is from 8am to noon. We can talk about car pooling options. You will receive a free ticket to the fair that day and can stamp your hand to return later. Our organization is across the street from the State Fair grounds and on the first day of the fair (Thursday August 27, 2026) we accompany our residents from Lyngblomsten Care Center to the fair for a few hours.

Thanks for joining us at Big Stone National Wildlife Refuge! Great River Greening is embarking upon a long-term partnership with the refuge to support their conservation efforts and this event marks our first partnership event together.

Containing over 11,500 acres, Big Stone National Wildlife Refuge is located at the headwaters of the Minnesota River and provides vital habitat for a variety of species, especially ground-nesting waterfowl. 

Volunteers will remove invasive species and haul recently downed wood to open up and support vital outcrop habitat, home to the rare ball cactus, one of three native cacti to the state of MN. Volunteers will also spread native seed once areas have been opened.

 Please note registrants will receive updates on any changes and final event details as the date approaches.

This event is open to all, and any necessary training will be provided.

Day of: Please arrive promptly, allowing time for parking and short walk. Our worksite areas will be adjacent to the Granite Outcrop trail head parking lot. Terrain will be a mix of flat hiking trails and occasional off-trail terrain with a slight rise in elevation.

Safety: Ensuring safety is our highest priority. It is important that event participants wear close-toed shoes and long sleeves to protect against the elements. We recommend dressing for the weather; layers are key.

Each day, we provide breakfast, lunch, and dinner options for RMH families at all five of our locations. At RMH-Oak Street, meal server volunteers support this effort by serving meals to families. Our meal team cares for all meal planning and preparations, and volunteers serve the meal to families as they come through for lunch or dinner (no cooking skills required!). Volunteers may also be asked to assist with cleaning up after the meal and/or packaging leftovers into individual grab-and-go meals. A typical shift could involve:

Assisting with final set up preparations before serving (placing food in warmers, setting out necessary utensils, etc.) Welcoming and serving families meals as they come through the serving line for lunch or dinner Ensuring food safety practices are met, including hand washing and using gloves Understanding menu items and ingredient lists Packing leftovers into individual grab-and-go containers Cleaning up the serving area after mealtime is over If a Cooks for Kids meal group is signed up to sponsor the meal, the meal server may be asked to assist with other aspects of the meal program Typical Hours and Commitment

Meal servers commit to one weekly or bi-weekly shift for lunch or dinner. We serve meals seven days a week, 365 days a year. Typical shifts are 11am-2pm for lunches and 4pm-7pm for dinners. We ask for a minimum commitment of one full semester or 50 hours.

Want to help children across the Twin Cites Metro learn about disability awareness and bullying prevention? Volunteer to be a PACER Puppeteer!

The COUNT ME IN puppet show, offers an opportunity to promote a positive message, learn a unique style of puppetry and improve your presentation skills while working with a fun team.  Volunteers must have some daytime availability (about 4-5 hrs. a month), reliable transportation, the ability to memorize a script, and the desire engage with children!

Volunteer: Pet Visitor Volunteer Team

The Pet Therapy Volunteer serves as an additional support to patients, families and caregivers by making friendly visits with his/ her certified therapy animal. Visits may occur in the patient’s home or in a professional care setting (subject to the rules of the facility). Both the Volunteer and the certified therapy animal provide comfort, companionship and a welcome distraction from the illness.

The majority of animals serving in this capacity will be a dog. The dog must be certified/ registered by an American Kennel Club (AKC) recognized therapy dog organization (http://www.akc.org/events/title-recognition-program/therapy/organizations/). Other certified/ registered therapy animals will be accepted on a case-by-case basis. All required vaccinations must be up to date and copies of the vaccinations/ medical evaluation must be maintained in the Volunteer’s Personnel File; required vaccines include Rabies and Distemper. A copy of the current certification/ registration, in addition to the liability insurance coverage, must also be maintained.
