Our mission is to enable all young people, especially those who need us most, to reach their full potential as productive, caring, responsible citizens.

Voyageur Environmental Center, a year-round residential camp located in Mound, MN, provides vital access to nature and adventure for Twin Cities youth. Every spring and fall, we need volunteers to assist with pre- and post-season clean up including cabins, lodge, a commercial kitchen, various program areas, trail, garden and beach maintenance, firewood cutting/stacking and other facility improvement projects. We need volunteers aged 15-up (12-up with adult) to complete this project seasonally. During the summer, we need volunteer assistance with ongoing brush clearing around the cabins, weeding/trimming, and trail maintenance.

This is a great opportunity for team-building, a mission-oriented family/friend experience, or a group service project. Should your group choose, this can become an ongoing opportunity to support our work with Twin Cities youth!

For the Kids Benefit - April 22nd 

We are always looking for groups who are willing to donate their time to the Boys & Girls Clubs. Your group could assist with programming in our three priority areas: Academic Success, Healthy Lifestyles, and Good Character & Citizenship. Activities include homework help, assistance and mentorship during academic programming, recreation, athletics, college and career readiness, and art. We also welcome groups who have a special skill or talent that they would like share with our Club members. Group volunteering can be youth-focused or project-focused (i.e. painting, clean up, etc.). Your group could also plan a special event for our youth, for example: Track and Field Day, Bingo Night, Game Tournament, etc.

Typically there is not a time commitment for group volunteers, however there is an option for your group to volunteer regularly if you are interested.

Program hours during regular school days take place from 2:00-9:00pm; most need for volunteers is between 2:00-7:00pm. Program hours during any day that school is closed (i.e. summer break, spring break, winter break, etc.) take place from 8:00am-5:30pm. All programming occurs Monday-Friday.

There are various Club sites throughout the Twin Cities, including 5 Clubs in Minneapolis, 3 Clubs in Saint Paul, and 2 Clubs in Richfield, in addition to our residential camp (Voyageur Environmental Center) in Mound, MN.

Are you looking for a fun project for a group of people?  We might have just the thing for you!  We are looking for groups of 5 to 20 people that want to help out with various facilities projects at our Avivo sites.

Volunteers are needed to for various indoor and outdoor projects. Most groups can complete a project in 3 hours. Some sample projects include:

* Paint: Help Avivo re-fresh apartments for new Avivo clients by painting apartment walls.

* Landscaping tasks (Starting in April): Looking to enjoy the outdoors again? We are looking for groups to help with planting, weeding and raking.

* Assembling furniture: Do you have a knack for assembling Ikea furniture? We are looking for groups to assemble dressers, bookshelves, and cabinets to place in client's apartments.

 * Hauling furniture: As apartments are updated with new furniture, we are in need of volunteers who are willing to move the old furniture out. Groups should have volunteers who are able to climb stairs and carry up to 25 lbs.

iLABS are Dakota County Library’s Makerspaces that offer technology such as 3D Printers, sewing machines, video production, audio production and more, free of charge to the public.

iLAB Volunteer Mentors work one-on-one with customers, assisting with creative and technical projects that use iLAB equipment and software.

Required Training

Volunteers will receive basic iLAB training before they start which will include an overview of the reservation system and resources for learning about equipment and software. Training will also include guidelines for teaching and mentoring in a library setting, as well as expectations for safety, conduct, and communication.

This is a complex position that will support staff on the Mother Baby Post-Partum unit. Volunteers in this position will be cross-trained in nursery to offer additional support as needed.

Are you a people person? Do you love to socialize and be around others? If so, MSS wants you! We are a day program that provides services and supports to adults with intellectual disabilities. We are looking for volunteers to come in to any of our 6 Twin Cities Metro locations and offer companionship, conversation, friendship and fun to the adults served in our programs. Volunteers can come any day of the week M-F for any time between 9-2pm. Interested volunteers should be outgoing, upbeat and comfortable engaging with adults with disabilities. Volunteers should plan to spend at least 1 hour a week with us. Must be able to pass a background check. Opportunities available in Apple Valley, Eagan, Shoreview, St Paul, Brooklyn Park and Oakdale.

MSS is seeking volunteers to assist program staff in bringing a group of individuals with disabilities out into the community. Volunteers will serve as companions to adults with disabilities, offer explanations of events and help make the experience enjoyable. Volunteers may be asked to push wheelchairs or walk arm-in-arm to offer physical support. Any admission costs will be covered by MSS. Outings may occur any day of the week M-F between 9:30am-1:00pm. Volunteers may experience outings such as museums, galleries, movies, picnics and more! Must be comfortable engaging adults with disabilities. Must be able to pass a background check. Seeking volunteers to lead any type of movement classes for adults with disabilities, some with limited range of motion. Open to any type of class: dance, sport, martial arts, yoga, etc. This class would ideally meet weekly, any time between 10-1pm for about an hour. Any day M-F. Must be positive, upbeat and comfortable engaging with adults with disabilities. Must be able to pass a criminal background check. Experience preferred but not required. Overview:

Your group will plan, purchase the ingredients for, and prepare a meal or snack at the Alexandra House shelter.  Groups will also be responsible for serving and clean-up.  After all program participants have been served, groups are welcome to join families for the meal.  Groups also have the option of decorating the dining area for a themed meal. When deciding the times you will be volunteering, please give yourself ample time for preparation and clean-up.

In addition to the times above, groups should factor in additional time for preparation and clean-up on the day of their project and for purchasing ingredients and planning time before the project. 

Requirements:

Groups must be able to purchase ingredients for a meal or snack to serve between 35-40 women and children.  Teen volunteers (ages 15-17) must have at least one adult supervising.

Group Size:

Due to tight space in the kitchen, the Serve a Meal Volunteer Project is best suited for groups between 3-4 members. 

Experience:

Group members should be comfortable in a kitchen and able to interact with program participants and staff from a variety of different backgrounds.

18 years or older and has not received Alexandra House services in the last year.  In general, live within 30 miles of Unity and Mercy Hospitals. Must have valid driver’s license, current auto insurance, and reliable vehicle.  Must have a hard-line telephone or cell phone with reliable reception.
