Volunteer: Distribution Center Support in St PaulEvery year, Catholic Charities serves over one million healthy meals and snacks and provides supplies to nearly 20,000 people most in need in our community. At the Catholic Charities Distribution Center (CCDC), we receive large donations of food and other new and unused clothing and household, personal care and supplies that are distributed to our client programs and 11 food service sites throughout the Twin Cities. We are in need of volunteers to assist with sorting and packing non-food donations, sorting and storing large quantities of food as well as helping with composting and recycling tasks, processing sizeable amounts of fresh fruits and vegetables, making sandwiches and/or other food service preparations. No special skills are required. We welcome volunteers who are age 14 and older. Volunteer: Community Market VolunteersThe White Bear Area Food Shelf is looking for volunteers to assist with the setup and distribution of our daily Community Market for neighbors to have an in-person shopping experience. There are 4 different volunteer opportunities: Market Prep - Mon/Tue/Wed/Thu/Fri 10:00am-12:00pm - check expiration dates and quality on rescued food, sort into categories and setup items in the market coolers, freezers and shelves in preparation for distribution Welcome - Mon/Tue/Wed/Fri 12:45-4:15pm - as neighbors arrive at the market, distribute pagers if needed, answer questions and then welcome neighbors into the market. Volunteer must be able to pass a simple background check for this role as well.Checkout - Mon/Tue/Wed/Fri 12:45-4:15pm - as neighbors complete their shopping, assist new neighbors or those needing help with the weigh out process using touchpads at the scales.
