Longfellow/Seward Healthy Seniors offers a variety of classes and activities for older adults in the Longfellow and Seward neighborhoods of Minneapolis. We are looking for volunteers interested in leading craft or art skill classes.  Beginning watercolor, rock painting, Alcohol ink,  card crafting or simple clay projects are all popular with our community. But we would love to hear your ideas! Projects need to be assessable to all skill levels and provide options for students  who struggle with dexterity.

Classes can be single-session, or take the form of weekly or monthly programs. You provide the skills and talent and Longfellow/Seward Healthy Seniors provides the event space and program materials.

RAGOM is looking for a Transport Coordinator to help organize and oversee the safe transport of dogs entering our care. This role ensures dogs move smoothly from surrendering owners to fosters with compassion and efficiency.

We are seeking a dedicated Behavior Services Lead to oversee our Behavior Services Team, which supports foster families and helps manage dogs with behavioral challenges. Reporting to the Executive Director, this volunteer leader provides direction, guidance, and training to team members while ensuring effective coverage through calendar management and shift coordination. The role serves as the primary point of contact for questions, escalations, and issue resolution, and plays a key part in fostering a responsive, efficient, and supportive environment. Responsibilities also include managing bite incidents, overseeing Behavior Modification Plans, and stepping in when team members are unavailable. Ideal candidates will have strong organizational and problem-solving skills, excellent communication and interpersonal abilities, experience working with volunteers, and hands-on knowledge of dogs with behavioral issues. Good customer service skills are essential for assisting adopters, fosters, and surrendering owners with sensitivity and professionalism.

We’re collecting hair care products to support women and men entering Touchstone Mental Health’s residential treatment programs. Everyone deserves to feel comfortable and confident—and that includes having access to products designed for their unique hair textures and needs.

Often our patient's are experiencing food insecurity and waiting at the clinic to see a provider can be a challenge on the best of days.  Please consider creating a little shelf stable snack pack for our youngest patients!  

Nice items to include would be applesauce packets, cheese and crackers, goldfish, fruit strips, pirate booty, veggie straws, fruit snacks, etc...

For babies 3+ months old, consider a container or travel size puff snack!

This opportunity would need to be fulfilled at your home or business/church/group space then either dropped off at our clinic or a staff member could arrange to have items picked up.

Provide free individualized financial guidance to low- and moderate-income community members with Prepare + Prosper. We are an economic justice nonprofit based in Minnesota that works to build financial health and provide access to free tax and financial services.  

Volunteers will schedule one-time phone or virtual consultations with Prepare + Prosper customers. Financial Planners who volunteer with us gain valuable experience working with diverse communities and receive training on the economic challenges P+P populations tend to face, in order to communicate with equity and respect in mind.

Volunteer as a Sunshine Caller!

Volunteer with Family Pathways to connect with neighbors in your community and make an immediate impact by engaging in a wonderful act of kindness!

Our volunteers offer “sunshine calls” to isolated older persons to ensure continued well-being of the individual and social contact. You’ll be trained in empathy and communication and provide phone calls over four weeks to program participants. You’ll find moments to laugh – these are simply conversations that should feel natural, with no profanity, and no inappropriate, religious or political topics.

By volunteering with FAMILY PATHWAYS as a Sunshine Caller, your time will make an important impact by:

  o  Providing a source of meaningful connection for both the older adults and the Sunshine Caller
  o  Working with each participant to better understand their individual needs
  o  Customizing the number of calls made per week, typically between 2 and 4. During these calls, the Sunshine Caller lets the client guide the conversation with topics (like gardening or new recipes, that they want to talk about).
  o  Providing the option to continue receiving one check-in call per week after four weeks.
  o  Volunteering as a Family Pathways i Sunshine Caller includes making notes after each call to be included in a monthly report you’ll make about the calls made. You’ll share information about the wellbeing and concerns of the person receiving the call and will report any immediate concerns as soon as possible.

About the board of directors

The purpose of the board of directors is to guide and grow SVC’s work toward a world free from sexual violence. We are seeking a diverse and enthusiastic group of candidates to join our volunteer board. Board members serve two-year terms, for no more than five consecutive terms, and help SVC with strategic governance, fundraising, fiduciary oversight, and support the executive director who manages day-to-day operations. The average board member commitment is six hours per month – which includes 12 meetings per year, committee participation, meeting preparation, new member orientation, board retreat, and occasional SVC events.

You should have the ability to attend board meetings, scheduled on:

Training Coordinator Position Description

ABOH volunteer Peer-to-Peer Companions have been through the cancer journey and simply want to help others. Their role is to listen and offer hope and companionship during the emotional roller coaster of a cancer diagnosis. They provide emotional support to patients and caregivers through texts, phone calls, and virtual or in-person meetings. Connecting with an ABOH companion who has experienced a cancer diagnosis can provide a great deal of support and connection.

Lung cancer places a great burden on families, and some lung cancer patients lack the support they need to achieve the best outcomes during their journey. Lung cancer carries an unkind stigma that often leaves patients feeling shamed and blamed. A Breath of Hope works to reduce the burden of lung cancer by offering services to fill in the care gaps. Hope and positive energy are known to bring healing. Every time we support lung cancer patients and their families, we have made a step forward in our battle to save lives and improve quality of life during the journey.

Time Commitment

Support volunteers have the freedom to volunteer as often as they wish and may say no when the requested drive time or location doesn’t work for them. ABOH does not require a minimum time commitment.

Padoc Area Scholars Society is a college scholarship program that changes the life trajectories of youth living in South Sudan, the poorest country in the world. Without our scholarships these youth have no where else to turn to in order to afford college. Our non-profit organization began in the fall of 2021 and our 100% volunteer staff and our donors have made it possible for more than 100 youth to begin college! A Life Mentor at The Redemption Project provides support and guidance to a currently incarcerated person. Communication with a student begins as they are about halfway through our Virtues For Success class. You would continue to communicate and mentor them through reentering into the community and for about one year after release.

Assist Brighton's support team as they provide bereavement services to the families who have lost a loved one in our hospice program.

A bereavement volunteer sends mailings and provides telephone support to caregivers of those who have passed away in our hospice program. Callers will contact people at 1-2 months and 11-13 months following the death to offer a listening ear and to see if further follow-up is needed from our staff.

Training is provided. Calls can be made from the comfort of your own home!

Ideal candidates have:

We are looking for volunteers to teach a one-hour online class to beginning or intermediate English Learners. The curriculum is provided to you.  The classes are scheduled between 5:00 - 9:00 p.m. Monday - Friday evenings.  We also may schedule a weekend class. 

You will work with a teacher to reinforce the curriculum that students are learning in their other classes.  You usually have between 2-8 students attending a Zoom conference. Training in teaching strategies and Zoom presentations are offered if needed.  Volunteers usually commit to one-two hours a week. 

VSS is looking for volunteers who can assist students online or in person with their digital learning skills. Or, we may ask you to teach a module in class (online or in-person).

Our students receive a Chrome Book to complete homework and attend Zoom classes.  We need to train students on using this technology.  Hours are varied and/or you can attend an appointment with a student. 

General Description Of the Position: The 200 Orphanages Worldwide Board is vital to the continued success of the organization. The main purpose of the Executive Board Member is to serve as an ambassador for 200 Orphanages Worldwide in their community and within professional and personal networks. Project Pathfinder, Inc. (PPI) seeks individuals interested in supporting a program that has been committed to preventing sexual violence for 30 years! PPI is a private, non-profit (501 (c) (3)) corporation serving clients in Minnesota and western Wisconsin. The majority of referrals come from the Twin Cities metro area, counties southwest of the Twin Cities as well as counties in southeastern Minnesota. A volunteer Board of Directors governs PPI and meets bi-monthly with additional committee involvement based on your skills or interests.

Hopewell Music Cooperative North (Hopewell Music) began in 2012 when two Northside music teachers shared a frustration over the diminishing access to music education. In turn, these teachers began offering lessons to area students and opened the only comprehensive music school in the area. Hopewell has continued to expand its programming to include ensembles, camps, workshops, and school programs.

Hopewell’s mission is to improve access to music education in North Minneapolis through affordable, inclusive, and engaging music programs.  The organization envisions a thriving music community, where everyone has equal opportunity to nurture and share their talents regardless of race, income, ability, or musical background.

Are you searching for a craft volunteer opportunity you can do from the comforts of your own home?

Moments Hospice is looking for craft volunteers who are interested in sewing, crocheting, or knitting patriotic wall coverings/blankets. The wall covering should have a patriotic design and be approximately six feet by four feet. These patriotic blankets will be placed over a deceased Veteran, or can be used as a keepsake for the family.

We also need craft volunteers to make fidget blankets, hospital gowns, lavender sachets, rice heating blankets, and Thinking of You cards for our patients.

We ask our volunteer facilitators to sign up for a minimum of 1 shift per month.

The crisis line advocate answers SVA’s Crisis Line during the weekday evening hours and weekend hours (completion of online course training required). You do not need to be on site for this position; it is done remotely through your home or cell phone.  Although you are “on call” during the entire shift, you may or may not receive calls. Our crisis line shifts start on weeknights at 5pm and go to the following morning at 8:30am. On a typical shift, volunteers may receive anywhere from 0-2 calls. Most volunteers keep their cell phone up at a louder volume and go about their normal activities when they’re on-call. In this role you:

Additional responsibilities of Clouds in Water Board Members

Each board member is expected to assume additional responsibilities, such as board officer position, board committee membership or ad hoc board work. Board officers are elected by the board at the October meeting.

Board Officers

The Chair shall convene regularly scheduled Board meetings, shall preside or arrange for other members of the Executive Committee to preside at each meeting in the following order: Vice-Chair, Secretary, and Treasurer. The Chair shall appoint all committee members and chairpersons.

The Vice-Chair will chair committees on special subjects as designated by the Chair and shall exercise the office of Chair in the Chair’s absence or as delegated.

The Secretary shall be responsible for keeping records of Board actions, including overseeing the taking of minutes at all board meetings, sending out meeting announcements, distributing copies of minutes and agenda to each Board member, sending meeting summaries to the membership and assuring that corporate records are maintained.

Living Room Tutors hopes to mitigate the negative repercussions of prolonged school closures by fostering connections between volunteer student tutors and students in need of tutoring.
