Purpose of Position:
- The Children’s Room Volunteer plays a key role in the support of Employment programming. While parents work with CLUES staff, the Children’s RoomVolunteer provides enrichment activities for Spanish and English-speaking children, of various ages, including games, literacy activities, art projects, and more.
Position Type: Unpaid volunteer service
Schedule: Saturdays, 10am-4pm, July 13 & July 20.
Location: CLUES Minneapolis: 720 E Lake St, Minneapolis, MN 55407
Responsibilities:
- Assist in classroom supervision of children joining their parents for programming.
- Lead activities in reading, art, early math and science, as well as group games.
- Work cooperatively with children and families of diverse culture backgrounds.
CLUES reserves the right to terminate an internship or volunteer commitment if behavior is not
in compliance with CLUES policies.
Qualifications:
- Verbal communication skills in Spanish preferred.
- Be flexible, reliable, punctual, and a positive role model for children.
- Interest and/or experience in early childhood education preferred.
Requirements & Training:
- Attend an initial training/interview with the Program Coordinator.
- Must pass a criminal background check.
- As a condition of continued employment, staff person may be required to submit to periodic re-verification of these background checks.
