The Gathering at Lyngblomsten in the Como area of St. Paul offers a special opportunity to provide vital respite care and bring moments of connection to individuals and their caregivers.
As a volunteer, you'll create a supportive and engaging environment for participants with early memory loss, allowing their caregivers a much-needed break to rest and recharge. Your presence can offer invaluable support and a sense of community.
Your Role as a Respite Volunteer:
- Engage and Connect: Participate alongside staff in facilitating enjoyable and stimulating activities like puzzles, gentle exercise, music, crafts, and storytelling.
- Provide Person-Centered Support: Offer friendly companionship and encouragement in a small, supportive 2:1 participant-to-volunteer setting.
- Contribute to a Welcoming Atmosphere: Be part of a team that values compassion and understanding.
Time Commitment: The Gathering program runs for 4 hours on multiple days each week at our St. Paul (Como) and Lino Lakes locations (volunteer hours are 9:30 am - 2:15 pm). You can choose the location and shifts that work best with your schedule.
