Calling all nature lovers! True Friends is looking for volunteers like you who are interested in conservation and aren’t afraid to get their hands dirty. By joining our Invasive Species Volunteer Group, you’ll make a difference by not only protecting the native habitat, but also improving our grounds for the enjoyment of visitors and respite participants.
Schedule:
- Spring and Fall
- 2-4 opportunities in the Spring and 2-4 opportunities in the Fall
- 2-3 hours at a time
As an Invasive Species Volunteer you will:
- Assist in the removal of invasive species including garlic mustard and buckthorn
- Pull and bag mature flowering garlic mustard in the Spring
- Cut and daub small buckthorn plants in the Fall.
- Receive training on how to identify and remove each species
You should apply if you are...
- Age 18+ unless accompanied by an adult.
- Comfortable working outdoors
- Physically able to crouch, reach, and lift 50 pounds
- Happy working collaboratively in a group
