Camp Noah camp staff and volunteers make a difference in the lives of children in disaster impacted communities and often comment that their lives have been changed by the experience as well.
Camp Noah is a camp for children whose communities have been impacted by disaster. Camp Noah provides a safe, caring and fun environment where children build resiliency skills within the familiarity of their own communities, using a proven curriculum designed to help children process their disaster and/or trauma experience through creative activities and play. In this safe and supportive setting, children are encouraged to face their fears, grieve their losses, identify and share their unique gifts and talents, and plan for an amazing future.
Camp Staff work directly with children as camp leaders during the Camp Noah week. There are a number of duties team members can take on. These include leading the curriculum in small groups, leading activities, and emceeing large group events. Each person has the opportunity to serve in an area that utilizes their own unique gifts and talents!
Camp Staff can join a team they are already involved with, or can join as an individual and be placed on a team.
On-site roles available include: (staff members may be assigned to any of these roles during the camp week, a more detailed description of each position is available in the Camp Noah 101 guide)
- Small group leaders and assistants
- Noah
- Actors and puppeteers—can also be a small group leader/assistant
- Large group leader
- Recreation leader
- Music leader—can also be a small group leader/assistant
- Craft leader
Training required before camp (mandatory):
- On-line training (4-5hours)
- 2-3 team meetings
Other requirements:
- Must pass background check
- Be at least 16 years old
- Willing to agree to the Guidelines and Policies & Procedures of Camp Noah
- Work well with children, professional, energetic and caring
- Must be willing to help team reach fundraising goal or pay the $225 per person registration fee, scholarships are available to cover this cost if you are unable to pay
