We need enthusiastic robotics competition referees. Come be wowed by robots. This fall, teams of Minnesota kids are preparing to compete in a FIRST Robotics program. We need referees to officiate Robotics competitions weekends in November thru February. Teams of kids build robots to compete in either FIRST LEGO League Challenge or FIRST Tech Challenge. The Robots are built to complete missions related to this year’s MASTERPIECE or CENTERSTAGE themes. Beginning in November they will compete at a High Tech Kids FIRST LEGO League or a FIRST Tech Challenge Robotics Tournament. High Tech Kids needs enthusiastic referees to make these tournaments a success. Come be inspired by teams of students in grades 4 - 12.
Referees officiate robot performance matches, tabulate scores, and encourage teams in a fun, energy charged environment. Referees must know the rules for the season's robot game and so must either attend training or watch several videos explaining the rules and missions.
Training is offered live in October, see our website for details (hightechkids.org/volunteer/training/). New referees will be paired with an experienced volunteer at their first event. Please see our website to learn more about these exciting programs, the referee volunteer role, and to see the full Tournament Schedule then sign up via our Volunteer Sign up page. Contact Barb at barb@hightechkids.org or visit http://hightechkids.org/volunteer for more information.
Location is our office, tournaments are held at schools in the twin cities and greater Minnesota.
