Pile Burn at Quarry Park

Expired

Description

Join Great River Greening for our second event at Quarry Park & Reserve and Quarry Park Scientific Natural Area, two areas combined into a large block of protected land in Waite Park. High-quality forest makes up most of the Reserve and SNA, punctuated by granite outcrops that suddenly become prairie and oak savannaMultiyear restoration work is just starting here, so this will be a good opportunity to see the site early and watch the restoration progress over the years. All are welcome, any necessary training will be provided. Pre-registration is required.

Volunteers will help Great River Greening staff feed and tend burning piles of buckthorn brush that was stacked at a volunteer event here last fall.

This event will take place over the course of two consecutive shifts, to ensure that we can maintain social distancing and minimize the number of folks gathering in one place.
To ensure that as many people as possible can participate in the event, we ask that you only sign up to attend one shift. If the event fills up, please sign up to be added to the waitlist - if there are cancellations, you will automatically be registered. Volunteers will be welcome to stay later than their designated shift if they are interested.

Capacity is limited, pre-registration is required. Learn more and register at: Pile Burn at Quarry Park - Great River Greening | GivePulse
