Pimento Relief Services Get Out The Vote 2020

Expired

Description

Imagine a world where there’s reggae music thumping from speakers, jerk chicken smoke billowing from grills, celebrity chefs meeting and greeting their neighbors, and the community is all out, undertaking their most important democratic civic duty: voting!

As part of Pimento Relief Services’ political liberation efforts, they have launched a Get Out The Vote campaign to use brand-Jamaica, food, music and entertainment to encourage black voters, and immigrant voters in particular, to exercise their franchise during the 2020 US elections. They will do so by hosting a series of SAFE street party events with free food being cooked and served my local celebrity chefs and their friends at locations in close proximity to polling stations in the most disenfranchised and select key low voter-turnout precincts in the Twin Cities.

Volunteers are needed on Sunday, November 1 at UROC in North Minneapolis (2001 Plymouth Ave N, Minneapolis, MN 55411 ) from 9:30 am – 3:30 pm and Monday, November 2 in Frogtown from 12:30 – 5:30 pm to help with event set-up, helping keep people safe and social distancing during the event, and event clean-up.
