Join us as we plant trees at Nokomis Montessori - North Campus, generously sponsored by Delta Air Lines!
This volunteer will lead a classroom of students (with their teacher present for behavior management) through the process of planting a tree!
We will have a volunteer training in the morning, where we will review How To Plant A Tree The Tree Trust Way and how to effectively engage children in environmental learning. There will be a printed schedule that gives times and locations for each class. We will take a lunch break in the middle of the day, and lunch will be provided by the school’s PTA. At the end of the day, some schools host a school-wide celebration.
Volunteers should be prepared to:
- Stand, kneel, and bend over
- Walk on uneven terrain
- Use a hand saw and other hand tools
- Engage with children ages 4-13
- Have a meaningful impact on their community!
Please remember to wear weather-appropriate clothing that can get dirty, boots or closed-toe shoes, and bring a bottle of drinking water.
