Position Overview:
Provide direct service advocacy to victims of domestic and sexual violence including crisis intervention, support, general advocacy, referral and education.
Specific Tasks:
- Respond to crisis calls, shelter requests, and phone calls by directing callers to the appropriate resource or staff person as necessary.
- Support women and families residing at the shelter with daily needs and crisis intervention.
- Communicate with other full-time staff and volunteers regarding ongoing facility, program, and client needs.
- Follow all agency policies and procedures.
- Complete other tasks as assigned.
- Maintain values of dignity, empowerment, and respect with all clients, callers, staff, and volunteers of the agency and program.
Training Required:
Volunteer Interview, Volunteer Orientation, Background Check, Information Session, 50-hour Domestic/Sexual Violence training (certificate included), attendance at any additional volunteer meetings.
Time Commitment:
Minimum of 3 shifts/ month for a minimum of 6 months. Shifts are 3-5 hours at a time (available days, evenings, weekends and holidays). Mandatory direct service volunteer meetings (quarterly).
