The annual Downtown Minneapolis Street Art Festival is a free and unique downtown art experience for residents and visitors that celebrates street art in all its forms. Volunteers will provide hospitality support to participating artists and festival goers. All you need is enthusiasm for street art, our downtown streets and the diverse audience of festival goers. Festival activities take place along Nicollet Mall August 12-15 and include: 

  • Signature chalk fest including tempera street murals by more than 15 local and national artists
  • Unique, anamorphic interactive 3D chalk art installations
  • Live spray paint demos from local and national artists 
  • Special street performances, games, food trucks and beverages
  • Exclusive Thursday evening launch party hosted on the rooftop terrace at Hennepin Theatre Trust
  • Friday lunchtime street concert with headliner
  • Special Saturday edition of the Nicollet Makers Market

Inclement Weather Plan: Festival happens rain or shine--in the case of forecasted bad weather, please bring a raincoat--volunteers will be helping to tarp and cover artworks and festival equipment. Dangerous weather/high winds may impact scheduled activities, performances, etc.

Get Connected Icon Hats, sunscreen and comfy shoes are helpful. All volunteers will receive and be required to wear a festival t-shirt. Snacks and beverages will be available during your shift.
