Description

Background

Hopewell Music Cooperative North (Hopewell Music) began in 2012 when two Northside music teachers shared a frustration over the diminishing access to music education. In turn, these teachers began offering lessons to area students and opened the only comprehensive music school in the area. Hopewell has continued to expand its programming to include ensembles, camps, workshops, and school programs.

Hopewell’s mission is to improve access to music education in North Minneapolis through affordable, inclusive, and engaging music programs.  The organization envisions a thriving music community, where everyone has equal opportunity to nurture and share their talents regardless of race, income, ability, or musical background.

Hopewell’s 2021-2023 strategic plan is organized around the following 4 priorities (along with the board committees that address them)

  1. Continue to prioritize inclusivity within Hopewell’s programs and organization (diversity, equity & inclusion board committee)
  2. Communicate Hopewell’s mission, vision, and values to internal and external stakeholders (community engagement committee)
  3. Plan for and deliver financial results which sustain mission impact (finance board committee)
  4. Increase the effectiveness of organizational infrastructure (governance board committee)

Hopewell Music FY23 Budget: $355,749 (mainly foundations, government grants and individual contributions)
