Thank you for your interest in helping volunteer at Spare Key's 2026 Groove Gala! This event would not be possible without the support of our incredible volunteers. Every year, we are more and more inspired by the generosity of each and every one of YOU and your willingness to help families facing a medical crisis “Bounce and Not Break”.

The 2026 Groove Gala will take place on Saturday, April 18th, 2026, at the Renaissance Minneapolis Hotel, The Depot! But we need volunteers throughout the entire weekend!

You will find slots with specific times and details regarding each volunteer shift and what they entail at THIS LINK. If you sign up for any of the “Night of Groove Gala” shifts, you will be notified a few days in advance of which specific section of the Gala you’ll be assisting with (e.g., registration, games, silent auction, etc.).

PLEASE NOTE: Every volunteer shift will include food and beverages! For longer shifts, we will provide full meals.

By partnering with teachers and students in under-resourced schools, the Kids In Need Foundation provides the support needed for teachers to teach and learners to learn. The fulfillment of our national programs occurs at our Teacher Resource Center in Little Canada, MN. We rely heavily on help from volunteers like you, and would be honored if you would consider joining us to achieve our mission.

We have a number of upcoming volunteer shifts. Interested volunteers can view and register for upcoming volunteer events here! If you are interested in scheduling a time for your group to volunteer, KINF can accommodate up to 80 participants at a time. Hennepin Healthcare is hosting a Teddy Bear Clinic on Saturday, May 9, 2026 from 9am – 1pm as part of Doors Open Minneapolis. This is ideal for children who are between 2 – 8 years old. Since children learn and express themselves through play, the aim is to educate and entertain them at a series of 12+ interactive stations to help normalize a medical experience. Children bring their Teddy Bears (or any stuffed animal) to the event and follow the “prescription” checklist (for their teddy to get stitches, x-rays, a bandage, hearing test, dentist visit and more). They also have the opportunity to tour of an ambulance and a fire truck. Free parking available in the Clinic and Specialty Center’s underground garage (entrance is at 821 Park Ave, Minneapolis). Donations: While donations are not required to pack at this session, we humbly request them. Each volunteer packs about $50 worth of food and FMSC receives no government support. We can only send meals as we have funding. Nearly everyone is able to contribute something, but we leave the amount up to you. Many groups and individuals make advance fundraising a fun part of their service project. As you're willing and able, you may donate on the day you volunteer (by cash, check or credit card), or online before or after you pack.

We are looking for volunteers to help create a memorable outdoor experience for Mankato Area Public School District middle school students, teachers, and their families. Whether you love being outdoors or enjoy supporting young people as they try something new, this is a great opportunity to give back and embrace the season.

Date: Saturday, February 7th

Volunteer Shift: 9:00 AM – 3:00 PM

Event Time: 10:00 AM – 2:00 PM

Location: Spring Lake Park (650 Webster Ave, North Mankato, MN 56003)

Lunch: All volunteers will have access to warm beverages all day. They will also enjoy a complimentary lunch featuring beef or veggie walking tacos. Please let us know about any dietary restrictions.

Volunteers will be assigned to an activity station and will play a key role in making sure students, teachers, and their families have a positive and safe experience. They will help activities run smoothly, encourage engagement, and help maintain a safe environment in and around the activity stations. Each station will also have a PS staff member to provide guidance and support throughout the event. Volunteers will have access to a warming house, on-site bathrooms, and warm beverages throughout the day. All activity stations are outdoors and may involve standing for extended periods.

Did you know Minneapolis and St. Paul school districts have 5+% of their students who are experiencing housing insecurity? Additionally, health clinics are finding patients express a need for hygiene items during health screenings.

Let's help address this need by making hygiene kits for struggling individuals and families.

The Front Desk volunteers report to the Office Coordinator, who arranges the schedule for volunteer shifts and staffing.

Pre-COVID, the Marketplace Food Shelf utilized a “choice” model, meaning the participants were free to shop just as they do in a traditional grocery store by choosing exactly the food they need from the shelves within Food Shelf guidelines. Our current service delivery system is to ensure the safety and comfort of staff, volunteers, and participants, while serving participants at a larger volume and more frequently. Volunteers working in the Marketplace Food Shelf will perform a variety of duties including:

- Accept donations from the public, offer and provide the donor with a receipt if requested.

- Serve our participants with check-in/out (currently put on hold because of our current model due to COVID-19)

- Review and sort food donations for packaging issues and expiration dates compared to PRISM guidelines

- Review and sort through perishable items to ensure they are of good quality for our participants

- Assemble and prepare nonperishable boxes, ranging from 35-40 lbs.

- Stock assembly-line shelves with purchased and donated products

- Break down unneeded packaging and expired food for trash, recycling, and compost. Disposing of items as needed.

- Maintain a clean, safe, and orderly work environment.

- Notify Marketplace Food Shelf staff, or a tenured volunteer, of any questions or any identified needs in the food shelf.

- Other duties as assigned

PRISM is excited to offer a new volunteer opportunity! The Food Shelf Check-in volunteer is the first point of contact for those visiting the food shelf. This volunteer schedules walk-in appointments for our visitors, helps identify participants' specific needs, and works in tandem with our staff to facilitate traffic flow in our facility. Primary responsibilities include the following:

- Greet participants, volunteers, and visitors in a warm, friendly and welcoming manner
- Directly serve participants with check-in at the Marketplace Food Shelf
- Work in tandem with Case Manager to discern participant needs, incl. intake for first-time visitors, clothing vouchers, resources or other services.
- Stay informed of changes to PRISM’s processes, services, and inventory in the Marketplace Food Shelf
- Manage/create appointment calendar using Google Calendar
- Maintain ongoing communications with staff via Microsoft Teams to address specific participant questions/concerns.
- Other duties as assigned

We would greatly benefit from volunteers who possess the following skillset:

- Effective interpersonal skills under all types of conditions, exhibiting a supportive, direct, and positive approach with participants, staff and other volunteers
- Ability to work with diverse populations with the demonstrated ability to communicate and relate effectively to a wide variety of individuals
- Ability to learn and acquire overall knowledge of PRISM, its services and staff, and other social service agencies
- Volunteers with experience in retail and/or direct customer service do particularly well here

Bilingual abilities are a huge plus in this role but not a requirement. We would greatly benefit from Russian, Spanish speaking volunteers in this role.

Long travel distances can make it difficult to sustain weekly meetings, so we prioritize mentors who live close to our service areas (within 20 min drive).

Communities are hungry for books! Help Little Free Library fulfill its mission of book access for everyone by coordinating a local book drive. You can lead a book drive and distributed the collected books to local Little Free Libraries. Little Free Library staff can answer your questions along the way. 

This is a flexible volunteer opportunity. You can coordinate your book drive during the times that work best for you and your community. Volunteers over 18 anywhere in the U.S. where there are Little Free Libraries can register for this opportunity.

After you register, we will send you a guide about how to coordinate a book drive. Then, staff will check in with you by email to offer support for your book drive planning.

Time Required: A typical book drive lasts about two weeks to one month, plus time beforehand to plan and promote the drive.

Naomi Family Program (NFP) houses women and women with children (usually ages 10 and younger). Thursday night chapel is an opportunity for families to come together and grow in community through worship. Outside community members are invited to assist in leading chapel. Chapel materials and experiences will be prepped and coordinated by NFP staff.

Adult hospital volunteers (18 and over) make an ongoing commitment to support the hospital through acts of service. Our hospital volunteers assist in many departments throughout Gillette, offering support to staff, patients and families.

Bilingual Learning Center (BLC) is a Spanish and English organization with the mission of fostering a learning environment that honors and celebrates the diversity of every child, through self expression, creativity, language and cultural exploration.

We are seeking volunteers to support enriching, empowering and getting creative with our kids! Our summer camp will run in June & August. Volunteers will support games, arts, storytelling and other various engaging activities. This is a great opportunity to practice your Spanish and gain experience with youth! Spanish is preferred but not required.

The Native American Community Clinic needs hats, scarves, gloves, snowpants, boots and coats - all ages and genders to provide to patients and our unsheltered relatives.  Also able to accept blankets, sweatshirts and sweaters.

Our street outreach team will distribute items to folks living outside while our nursing and patient advocate teams will provide items to folks visiting our medical clinic.  Often, this provides our teams with a chance to engage folks further around housing, treatment, healthcare and social services.

We serve a diverse population living in the Ventura Village and Phillips neighborhoods of South Minneapolis.

Create content for Tubman’s Movement for Violence Prevention (MVP) social media pages and youth website. Youth voices matter, and we want to hear yours! Work collaboratively with our youth team to create informational, inspirational, and transformative content that makes an impact. MVP content is created for and by youth. Content Creators are expected to contribute one social media piece per week for one semester or longer. Work can be completely remote!

Wish granters are essential to fulfilling each child’s wish. They work in teams of two or three and help the wish child determine their heartfelt wish. Wish granters create an exceptional wish experience through building a relationship with the child and their family. Wish children come from all different backgrounds and cultures, so with the help of bilingual wish granters, a wish child can communicate in a language that they are most comfortable with during the wish process! It also greatly reduces the stress for other family members. We welcome all applicants, but have a particular need for volunteers who can speak Spanish, Hmong, Somali, Oromo, and Arabic at any level of proficiency. ASL is also in demand. Training is provided and is flexible with your schedule!

Did you know that more than half of food shelf shoppers struggle to afford personal hygiene products every month? This is because hygiene items are not covered by government assistance, have limited availability at food shelves (if at all) and are expensive. Let's help address this need buy filling bags for families.

We are looking for businesses, community groups and neighbors to buy full size personal hygiene products and fill grocery bags with them for neighbors struggling to afford hygiene items. These bags will be given to food shelves, schools, housing providers and refugee services organizations.

Please note: This is a remote opportunity that occurs at your preferred location. Your group will be responsible for the purchasing and assembling of the hygiene care bags. We can provide you with suggestions of items based on needs and pricing. We can pick up the bags or you may drop them off at our St. Paul location (280/94).

These items will be provided to school social workers, nurses, food shelves and more to distribute with dignity to the students, individuals and families they serve.

Bundles of Love Charity is looking for a volunteer who is skilled in sewing and serger machine repair. At our work group locations, we cut and sew infant garments. At the Burnsville location there are currently 10 sergers needing to be maintained, with some needing immediate attention.

The fulfillment of our national programs occurs at our Teacher Resource Center in Roseville, MN. We rely heavily on help from volunteers like you, and would be honored if you would consider joining us to achieve our mission.

Each ambassador will promote his or her fundraiser in his or her community, learning valuable communications skills along the way. New Day Thrift Store is looking for people to sort, price and put clothing out on the sales floor.  This person would separate out any stained or unsalable clothes to be donated to other organizations that take them for rags, etc.  Clothes would then be placed on hangers and tagged. Children under 14 are able to volunteer, but an adult needs to come with them to supervise them. Come join us! Our volunteers have fun while helping a great cause! Your help would really be appreciated!!!

Art, Heart and Hoofbeats - Equine Rescue and Sanctuary is a non-profit 501(c)3 organization that runs entirely on donations. We are always on the look out for help in procuring monetary donations and sponsorship, both private and corporate. We also often need individuals to collect donations of goods and services for special events (for example, gift cards and items for silent auctions). We have also received many wonderful donations from clubs, groups, and individuals who have chosen to hold a “AHH Benefit” Event. Some ideas for this would be fun shows, tack sales, rummage sales, bake sales, or informational booths at local feed or tack stores. If you are interested in holding this sort of fundraiser to help the horses and people served at AHH, please let us know!

 Farm Help:

At Art, Heart and Hoofbeats Equine Rescue and Sanctuary we welcome volunteers to the farm to help on a regular scheduled basis or with special projects. This often includes cleaning stalls, mending or building a fence, building goat toys general maintenance of the grounds. Volunteers with special skills (such as electricians or carpenters) are also needed!

Food Shelf Aide

Come help our neighbors with their food needs! We are looking for 4-6 volunteers per weekly shift, Monday through Thursday, 8:30am-12:30pm and 12:30pm-4:30pm to work with our food shelf staff. Volunteers must be 18 years old or older. We ask volunteers to commit to a 4-hour-a-week shift for a minimum of two months.

All volunteers must be pre-registered with a volunteer application https://www.volgistics.com/ex/portal.dll/ap?AP=335122860&OR=1 and be scheduled through Sally Newbury at snewbury@npimn.org. People of color and/or bilingual language talents are strongly encouraged to apply.

Youth who are 14, 15, 16 and 17 years old can volunteer with us with some of our public events and with our food shelf. We require prior parental written permission that applicant will receive after completing the volunteer application. The 14 and 15 year old youth can volunteer when accompanied by their parent or guardian. The 16 and 17 year old youth can volunteer by themselves with our Food Shelf.

Forms to review/sign prior to volunteering at NorthPoint will be sent to you once your application is received and include: 1) Volunteer Requirements and 2) Civil Rights Checklist

Please take all necessary precautions if you are health compromised or caring for someone with compromised health. We ask you NOT to volunteer if you or anyone in your household ill or has tested positive for the coronavirus.

Face coverings

All staff and volunteers are encouraged to wear face coverings that cover both mouth and nose and are secure with ear loops. NorthPoint will provide disposable masks and gloves during yours shift.

Assignments

Volunteers will be assigned to packing boxes of dry food, bagging produce, receiving and stocking donations and purchased food deliveries. NorthPoint staff will have direct contact with customers (not volunteers) to register and receive food.

When you arrive for your shift, please use the back door of the Food Shelf to enter and wash your hands in the breakroom or bathroom. Please sign in to utilizing the kiosk in the hydration room to record your time in and please remember to sign out at the end of your shift too. Report to the Food Shelf staff for your assignment.

How to Dress and What to Bring

Please wear closed-toe shoes to protect your feet from boxes and pallets. No sandals please. Please dress modestly with shorts that come to the knee or long pants and short or long sleeves. We ask volunteers to come with their own cloth-mask on their face and you may swap it for a NorthPoint disposable mask once you arrive. There will be bottled drinking water on site but you are also encouraged to bring your own reusable water bottle. Hand sanitizer will be available throughout the site.

Are you looking to gain nonprofit board experience and expand your network? Then YouthLink's Young Professionals Board (YPB) may be for you!

Purpose of the Young Professionals Board:
The YPB's mission is to create avenues for young professionals to more deeply engage with YouthLink through volunteerism, fundraising, networking, and community engagement. YPB members advocate and increase awareness for the issues faced by young people experiencing homelessness among their peers. The YPB typically hosts one or two fundraisers per year with an annual fundraising goal of $5,000.

Who makes up the Young Professionals Board?
YPB members come from a wide variety of industries and job functions, including (but not limited to) health care, technology, social services, and law. Members must be 21 years old. Joining the YPB will give you insight and experience into what it is like to be on a nonprofit board. Applicants should show a commitment to diversity, equity, justice, and inclusion. YouthLink's YPB strives to have a diverse membership when it comes to cultural background, race, ethnicity, gender expression, sexuality, ability, socioeconomic status, and life experiences. 

Commitment & Terms:
The YPB meets monthly. Members should plan on attending 9 out of 11 scheduled meetings each year. The current board has been meeting on last Thursday evening of the month from 5 PM- 6PM. Meetings alternate between in-person at YouthLink and virtual. Members are expected to volunteer time outside of the monthly meetings as well; for example, to fulfill work related to fundraisers or special projects. Members are appointed to a two-year term. Each member may have their term extended for one additional year. 

About YouthLink:
YouthLink works with youth, ages 16-24, who are experiencing homelessness. We are located in downtown Minneapolis and serve youth across the Twin Cities. YouthLink has more than 45 years of experience connecting young people with a community of resources and support. Whether it’s basic needs, like a shower or a hot meal, assistance with employment or educational goals, accessing mental and physical health resources, or finding supportive housing, we can help young people at all stages of their journey.

Often our patient's are experiencing food insecurity and waiting at the clinic to see a provider can be a challenge on the best of days.  Please consider creating a little shelf stable snack pack for our youngest patients!

For babies 3+ months old, consider a container or travel size puff snack!

This opportunity would need to be fulfilled at your home or business/church/group space then either dropped off at our clinic or a staff member could arrange to have items picked up.

Tamarisk, a non profit volunteer organization, attends to the non medical needs of people and their families faced with the end stages of a life-threatening illness. Tamarisk volunteers provide regularly scheduled breaks for caregivers within the family.For approximately 2-4 hours a week Tamarisk volunteers assure the safety and well being of the patient while the family caregiver is occupied or away.  During home visits, Tamarisk volunteers play cards or games, share a movie together, read a book, listen and provide a presence to their companion.  They might prepare a light meal, run errands or bring their companion to a medical appointment.  The companions day to day needs form the agenda of the visit.

Every week the Interfaith Outreach and Community Partners (IOCP) Food Shelf serves 200+ households and November and December are two of our busiest months. Help keep our shelves stocked by hosting a Fall or Winter Food Drive.

Drop collected items off at the IOCP Donation Door Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays 10 a.m. - 5 p.m.

If you have a large donation (e.g. a truckload or multiple car loads) please fill out our Large Donation Form online at least two business days BEFORE DROP-OFF to ensure the best possible experience. Our staff will respond to help answer questions and confirm details before you bring in your items.

IOCP delivers integrated services that address the basic needs for food, shelter, and clothing, while also providing strengthening services that connect households to affordable housing, quality childcare, employment, and more.

Interfaith Outreach & Community Partners (IOCP) delivers integrated services that address the basic needs for food, shelter, and clothing, while also providing strengthening services that connect households to affordable housing, quality childcare, employment and more.

Play Guide volunteers rotate through a few different assignments throughout the museum during their shift. These assignments include activities like:  

Facilitating fun high energy areas like the Laser maze, Forces and Scramble, greeting visitors, and helping children take turns and play safely.   

Assisting in the Art Studio. Greet visitors and introduce the daily activity, help maintain supplies and workspaces, engage visitors in their artwork using museum learning guidelines, and assist facilitators in running special pop-up programs.  

Assist with prep work for the galleries and The Studio.  This could include cutting materials such as paper, fabric, cardboard or yarn down to specific sizes, sorting materials, prepping clay, etc.  

Play Guide Volunteers choose their shifts online for them to attend on Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, and Saturday shifts. Each day typically has a morning shift, 10am-1pm and an afternoon shift, 1-4pm. Volunteers also have the opportunity to stack shifts on the same day if they wish to complete more hours for a course requirement in a shorter period or simply wish to extend their shifts. If Play Guide volunteers come as a pair, group of friends, or family, they can be stationed together- providing that there is no need for them to be elsewhere and they are productive together and not distracted.

As the Front Desk Receptionist Volunteer, you will be the first point of contact for visitors, clients, and community members. You will play a key role in creating a welcoming and professional environment at our community center while supporting the smooth daily operation of front office activities.

Key Responsibilities:

·        Greet all visitors warmly and direct them appropriately

·        Answer and route phone calls in a courteous and professional manner

·        Respond to general inquiries in person, by phone, or email

·        Assist with check-ins for appointments, classes, or events

·        Maintain the cleanliness and organization of the front desk area

·        Maintain the cleanliness and order of the coffee and tea area in the lobby

·        Provide administrative support such as filing, copying, and data entry

·        Notify staff of guest arrivals and scheduled meetings

·        Uphold confidentiality and a respectful, inclusive atmosphere at all times

We are distributing pre-boxed food that will provide a week's worth of groceries to those facing hunger in our communities. We need volunteers to help distribute the food from 4:30-8 pm. Jobs include placing pre-boxed items in shopping carts and placing groceries to client's cars, and event clean up. We can host up to 15 volunteers for this shift. Click Here to register. The city boasts a 132-year-old Library. We invite you to become a part of this beautiful legacy of literacy and community support by becoming a Volunteer in our beautiful little library. 

Library Volunteers assist patrons with item check-out, computer use, scanning, printing, laminating, and most importantly being a resource. Volunteers are the heart of this lovely space. No prior library experience is necessary. Volunteers must be 18 years of age or older and willing to work alone. The primary job of the Volunteer is to be a friendly face.  Because we work with children and vulnerable adults, Volunteers must pass a background check including fingerprinting. The reward of serving this beautiful community is worth the process. 

Volunteers keep the doors of the Newport Library open. You are a friendly face. You do not have to be a computer wiz but should have familiarity with a computer. You are simply asked to be friendly and as helpful as you can be. Training will be provided. There is optional book shelving, and tidying up. Food sorting plays a vital role in ensuring that families who visit Today’s Harvest receive healthy, safe, and high-quality food—all while helping reduce food waste in our community.

Food sorting is the process of organizing and preparing rescued food so it’s safe, fresh, and ready to share with our community. When food donations arrive—often from grocery stores, food rescue partners, or community drives—volunteers help sort through the items to check for quality and safety.

This includes:

Separating food into categories such as produce, bread, meat, dairy, and dry goods.

Removing items that are spoiled, damaged, or unsafe to distribute.

Organizing market-ready food so it can be stocked quickly and efficiently.

Composting, garbage or recycling items when appropriate.

About the Walk

The American Foundation for Suicide Prevention (AFSP) is the leading nonprofit dedicated to saving lives and bringing hope to those affected by suicide. Our Out of the Darkness Walks unite communities around Minnesota to raise awareness, remember and honor loved ones, and support the fight to end suicide. With over 1,940 attendees and more than $190,000 raised to support suicide prevention, the Twin Cities Walk is one of the largest in the country - and it's all powered entirely by volunteers like you! 

About the Committee

As a new committee member, you'll work alongside experienced, veteran committee members who are local Minnesota residents that have attended and supported the Twin Cities Out of the Darkness Walk for years. Our committee is made up of dedicated individuals who bring a wealth of knowledge, experience, and a deep personal connection to the cause.

New volunteers will receive hands-on, dedicated training and ongoing support to ensure you feel confident and comfortable in your role. You'll not only gain meaningful event-planning and leadership experience but also become part of a passionate community committee to bringing hope and healing to those affected by suicide.

If you’re ready to bring hope to the Twin Cities, we’d love to have you on our team! Please complete the application here and our Walk Chair will reach out!

Come be inspired by what kids can accomplish as a judge or referee at a FIRST Tech Challenge or FIRST LEGO League tournament. We need both judges and referees to make these Robotics tournaments a success. This fall, students in grades 4 to 12 will form Robotics teams to participate in these FIRST programs.

In Minnesota, these talented kids will compete at an event organized by High Tech Kids. Join us to be inspired by these students. Following volunteer training in September - October, spend a full Saturday or Sunday of your choice in November through February judging or refereeing at a High Tech Kids Robotics Tournament. Kids will explain what they learned and built through these FIRST programs. Judges ask questions and provide encouragement to teams during judging sessions, then collaborate with other judges to determine award winners. Referees officiate robot performance matches, tabulate scores, and encourage teams in a fun, energy-filled environment.

Address is our office, but tournaments are held at various schools in the Twin Cities and Greater Minnesota.
