Volunteer: Wish Granting Intern – Community Engagement

Job Description:               Wishes & More is seeking a passionate and motivated intern to assist the Wish Department in a variety of wish-granting tasks, with a focus on engaging local event hosts and entertainment vendors. This intern will have the unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience in the nonprofit sector and directly impact the lives of children facing terminal and life-threatening illnesses.

 

Time Commitment:        Weekly commitment of 8-12 hours per week

 

Responsibilities:

 

1.      Community Engagement:

·         Research local events and create a working list of potential opportunities to offer to current and former wish families

·         Solicit in-kind donations from event hosts and entertainment vendors

·         Foster new relationships by thanking donors and encouraging ongoing involvement

·         Maintain an internal calendar of events

·         Distribute opportunities among current and former wish families and track distribution in the Wishes & More Salesforce database

 

2.      Other wish related tasks as assigned:

·         Send and follow up on medical forms

·         Input and make updates to wish records in Salesforce

·         Partake in wish interviews with a seasoned volunteer

·         Prepare wish budgets

·         Collect and compare bids for purchase of gift items

·         Create wish trip itinerary packets

·         Plan wish enhancements to make the wish experience more unique and special

·         Plan wish reveals to let the child know their wish is coming true

 

Preferred Skillsets:Proficient in Microsoft Office programs, organized, attentive listening, excellent oral and written communication, ability to work independently, career interest in non-profit organization, willing to accept a variety of tasks with a positive attitude.

Gain working knowledge of the creation of a large-scale auction with multiple sections and a variety of values, while using specialized resources: OneCause, Salesforce database, and Canva.

This position is unpaid.

 

Time Commitment:         Weekly commitment – minimum of 8 hours per week

Flexible: November-February

 

 

Responsibilities:

Collaborate with Fundraising Associate and Auction Solicitation Committee on ideas for new and exciting auction items  Conduct research on new potential individual and corporate donors as well as outreach to local organizations for donations Solicit for auction and gift bag items from new and sustaining donors Help track incoming donations and thank donors Database Management: Data entry of auction items and donor maintenance in Salesforce Monitor inventory and seek donations to create a well-rounded selection

·         Must be available to work all day of Winter Gala on February 8, 2025
