Volunteer: MILITARY VETERANS TO VISIT WITH FELLOW VETERANS (AGE 18 +)The goal of this program is to match military veterans with veteran hospice patients. When the veterans are matched together there is a special bond and camaraderie that takes place with one another. The veterans have an opportunity to share their life stories and experiences. The veteran volunteer will also have an opportunity to honor the veteran patient through a special pinning ceremony. The pinning ceremony is an intimate gathering of family and friends of the patient in which we acknowledge the service and sacrifice made by the patient and their family. Vet to Vet visits are typically 1-4 hours, every 1-2 weeks. Our patients are located throughout the Twin Cities Metro area and outer lying counties. Volunteers choose assignments based on preferences and availability. You do not need medical training. You just need a desire to help. Find more information about our program, including an application, at http://www.fairview.org/hospicevolunteer.
