The Midtown Global Market, located in South Minneapolis, is a bustling internationally themed market with stalls selling food & crafts from around the world. We are very grateful for all the support of the community during the challenging time we are are experiencing as a city.

We are excited to bring back the Lunar New Year Celebration at the Midtown Global Market on Saturday, April 25, 2026.

It's an afternoon filled with vibrant performances, cultural traditions, and community celebration!

We need 2-3 volunteers to run our craft table and assist kids with making dragon crafts and headbands

Also, we could use additional volunteer to help with teardown from 3:00 -4:30pm.

On April 4, 2026 we are having an exciting dessert contest at the Midtown Global Market. Participants will move from table to table and sample different desserts and vote which was their favorite.

We would be very grateful to get help with two roles:

1. Two (2) volunteers to manage the registration table, hand out trays and silverware and sell tickets.

2. Three (3) volunteers to help serve the desserts.

Neighborhood Development Center (NDC) is a non-profit organization that offers training, lending, retail spaces and technical assistance to inner-city entrepreneurs in its targeted neighborhoods including, Saint Paul. Minneapolis and Brooklyn Park. NDC's mission is to improve neighborhood economies by developing the talents of micro-entrepreneurs within their own communities. NDC has trained more than 6,000 people to date (80% of whom are people of color.) We currently have nearly 700 alumni in business.

NDC is interested in finding volunteers to mentor some of our entrepreneurs who are in need of some guidance and encouragement. Mentors will connect with entrepreneurs for an agreed upon time period of up to one (1) year. Mentor and mentee will meet atleast once a month or more frequently if desired.

Mentors can choose to mentor 1-3 entrepreneurs based on capacity.

The Management on Duty (MOD) serves as the on-site leadership presence at Midtown Global
Market, ensuring a welcoming, safe, and well-organized environment for guests, vendors, and staff.
The MOD acts as the primary point of contact during assigned shifts, supporting daily operations,
guest engagement, and emergency response procedures while representing the Market with
professionalism and care.

Guest Engagement & Hospitality
• Maintain a visible and active presence throughout the Market.
• Greet guests warmly and create a welcoming atmosphere.
• Serve as an approachable resource for guests and vendors.
• Address questions, concerns, and service needs promptly and professionally.

Support NDC and its partner organizations by helping amplify fundraising efforts that provide short-term financial relief and raise awareness for small businesses impacted by recent events. This role is ideal for volunteers who enjoy sharing information, mobilizing networks, and helping causes gain visibility.

The goal of NDC's Volunteer Impact Program (VIP) is to create opportunities for members to share their skills, expertise, knowledge and time with the organization as we continue to support our small businesses. It is also an oppportuntity for members to expand their network by building relationships and connections with our VIP members.

NDC’s mission is to improve neighborhood economies by developing the talents of micro-entrepreneurs within their own communities. NDC has trained more than 6,000 people to date (80% of whom are people of color.) We currently have nearly 650 alumni in business.    NDC places strong emphasis on accountability, adaptability, and commitment to working closely with clients to help overcome obstacles and barriers. NDC’s work relies upon collaboration and strong personal relationships. These values drive our policies, programs, and personnel.    NDC is a small, friendly, busy office with a fast-paced work environment. Employees must be innovative, possess creative problem-solving skills and be willing to tackle a wide variety of tasks. Successful employees will have a passion for social justice and an eagerness to engage in the communities where we work.   

Position Purpose:  

We are seeking an individual who is bilingual and open to cultural diversity to spend five-ten hours a month training business client in basic social media techniques. It will be your responsibility to teach the business(es) the basics of using social media platforms such as Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, etc. Also, assist with the creation of photos and other content using social media programs like Canva. Bilingual in but not limited in Spanish, Hmong and Somalian

The Neighborhood Development Center (NDC) is a non-profit, community development financial institution providing integrated business services to low-income community entrepreneurs to start and grow businesses in their own neighborhood.  These businesses then enrich the economic and social fabric of the community. We currently have five incubators, including the Midtown Global Market in Minneapolis. We are also planning to build a new innovation center that will support entrepreneurs who seek to scale their existing businesses in sectors technology, health, wellness and beauty.

NDC is Interested in a volunteer with a background in RE Development, Property Management or Consulting.
