Help adults build essential digital skills! We're seeking a Spanish-English bilingual volunteer to support our computer literacy class for Spanish-speaking learners. Volunteers assist with basic tech tasks, offer one-on-one support, and help create a welcoming, adaptable learning environment. Most learners are new to using computers, and classes focus on practical skills like typing, internet searching, TeleHealth access, using QR codes, and setting up devices. These skills empower learners to search for jobs, connect with family, support their children’s education, study English, and pursue further learning. Make a meaningful impact in just a few hours a week!

Qualifications 

Age 18 or older 

Fluent in Spanish and English (spoken and written)

Comfortable with basic computer tasks (e.g., typing, internet browsing, email)

Patient and supportive when working with beginner learners

Reliable and able to commit to a consistent volunteer schedule

Interested in helping adults build confidence with digital tools

Neighborhood House’s Adult Education Program empowers adult learners with classes in citizenship, digital skills, career readiness, and English. We help individuals gain the skills needed to advance their careers, pursue higher education, and build strong community connections. All key steps toward independence and a brighter future.

Greet and welcome new learnersGuide them in selecting coursesAssist with forms and record information if neededSupport learners with test practice and form completionIntroduce Neighborhood House programs and share resourcesCreate and explain their class schedule

Qualifications:

18 or olderFluent in speaking, reading, and writing EnglishReliable and punctualStrong communication and interpersonal skillsComfortable using classroom technology (laptops, projectors, etc.)

Commitment: One shift per week for up to 6 weeks.

Be the go-to guide! Assist shoppers every step of the way, answering questions and ensuring they have a delightful shopping journey.  Become a master of precision! Weigh and record groceries with finesse, following our established procedures. It's all about attention to detail and ensuring accuracy for a smooth checkout.  Your helping hands make a difference! Aid shoppers by carrying their groceries and expertly bagging items as needed, adding an extra touch of convenience to their visit.  Keep the magic happening! Help maintain our shelves, ensuring they're consistently stocked, well-organized, and products are beautifully presented for shoppers.  Embrace the green side! Sort and stock fresh produce with care, and when needed, transfer items to our organics recycling, contributing to our sustainability efforts.  The hero of deliveries! Support our team in the exciting process of receiving and stocking food donations and deliveries, ensuring our shelves stay plentiful.  The tidy maestro! Keep our shopping area spick and span, maintaining a welcoming atmosphere by tidying up as needed. 

 

Time Commitment: Weekly 

Shift Options: Weekday mornings and/or afternoons

Your empathy and understanding towards the challenges they face is invaluable.  Speak multiple languages? You're a star! While not mandatory, being bilingual or multilingual, especially in languages spoken in our diverse community such as Russian, Somali, Hmong, Spanish, and West African dialects like Amharic or Oromo, adds an extra sparkle to your role.
