DARTS Breathing Space group respite provides supervision and companionship with the addition of social engagement and 4 hours of brain-stimulating activities. Led by a DARTS staff member with support from a team of volunteers, the program is designed for individuals with early- to mid- stage memory loss or other conditions that require some supervision. A session of DARTS Breathing Space includes music, games, exercise, discussion groups, art activities, guest speakers, and more. DARTS is offering this group respite opportunity at Augustana Lutheran Church (1400 S Robert St, West St Paul) on Thursdays, from 10am-2pm, at Easter Lutheran Church (4545 Pilot Knob Rd, Eagan) on Fridays, from 10am – 2pm. We are adding a NEW DARTS Breathing Space location this September at Grace Lutheran Church (7800 150th St W, Apple Valley), the 2nd and 4th Mondays monthly, from 10am-2pm. You will work alongside older adults to confidently utilize technology in their lives. Do I need to be a tech expert? Basic computer, tablet, and smart phone skills are all you need. What’s the time commitment? We can work with you and your schedule. A typical Tech Buddy visit takes 30 minutes to an hour, and we match you with older adults as they call in with tech requests. What will I help with?* - Answer tech questions to the best of your ability - Provide education on technology topics such as video calls, photo storage, customizing settings, using the internet, downloading apps, using calendars, etc. - Facilitate conversations with older adults around how they currently use technology and if there are technology solutions that could benefit their lives - Listen for warning signs of scams *Tech Buddies will not help with fixing hardware, password recovery, managing financial or health information.
