The Volunteer Content Creator helps develop compelling written and visual content to support outreach, education, and advocacy campaigns. This role helps amplify the voices of incarcerated workers and raise awareness about issues impacting people inside prisons.

Responsibilities:

Write engaging social media captions, educational posts, and campaign messaging

Design visual assets such as graphics, carousels, and infographics using Canva or similar tools

Collaborate with team members to align posts with campaign priorities and calls to action

Ensure messaging is accurate, consistent, accessible, and culturally relevant

Adapt content for platforms such as Instagram, Facebook, Threads, and LinkedIn

Ideal Skills:

Strong writing and/or graphic design skills

Familiarity with Canva, Adobe Express, or similar design tools

Understanding of brand consistency and tone

Eye for social media trends and visual storytelling

Bonus Skills:

Knowledge of accessibility practices (alt text, color contrast, inclusive language)

Position Summary:
The Volunteer Short-Form Video Editor creates engaging short-form videos (30–90 seconds) for platforms such as Instagram Reels, TikTok, Stories, and YouTube Shorts. This role helps transform campaign footage, interviews, and educational content into compelling videos that inform, inspire, and motivate people to take action.

Responsibilities:

Edit short-form video content from campaign footage, interviews, and user-generated clips

Add music, subtitles, logos, transitions, and visual effects to enhance storytelling

Format videos for different platforms and follow current social media trends

Collaborate with content creators and storytellers to match tone, message, and purpose

Help build and organize a library of short-form video content for future campaigns

Ideal Skills:

Experience with editing tools such as CapCut, InShot, Premiere Rush, iMovie, or similar programs

Comfortable editing vertical video for Instagram, TikTok, and other social platforms

Ability to capture viewer attention within the first few seconds

Awareness of trending audio, hashtags, and social media hooks

Prison Compassionate Medical Release Advocate

About the Role

The Prison Compassionate Release Advocate works to support incarcerated individuals seeking release based on serious medical conditions and/or advanced age. This role focuses on organizing cases, assisting with documentation, coordinating communication, and advocating for humane and timely release.

Key Responsibilities

Identify and organize potential compassionate release casesAssist with gathering medical, legal, and institutional documentationCommunicate with incarcerated individuals and their families when appropriateCoordinate with attorneys, organizers, and advocacy partnersTrack deadlines, applications, and case updatesSupport broader policy and organizing efforts related to medical and geriatric release

We are looking for dedicated volunteers to serve as Prison Grievance Advocates.

A Grievance Advocate acts as a communication bridge between incarcerated individuals, DOC staff, and when appropriate, outside agencies. This role supports clear, professional communication and helps ensure concerns are accurately documented and directed through the proper institutional grievance procedures.

Advocates help individuals understand the grievance process, maintain organized records, and promote accountability within established policies and systems.

Propose campaigns or actions addressing systemic harm

Position Summary:
Serve as a liaison between the organizing team and a specific unit or pod.

Responsibilities:

Share updates with unit members

Collect concerns, ideas, and feedback

Support organizing at the pod level

Help maintain unity and clarity of messaging
