Volunteer: Shopping Day Volunteers

Joseph's Coat is a free store serving those in need within an environment of dignity and respect. We are seeking volunteers to join our team.

Shopping Day volunteer positions are on site at Joseph's Coat. Joseph's Coat is a free store that provides goods to those in need. We are open to shoppers on Mondays and Wednesdays. Shopping Day volunteer duties can include: 
1. Assisting on the store floor in various sections
2. Helping at the door to check in, and give shopping bags to shoppers
3. Assisting at the Hygiene Counter
4. Sorting donations in the back
5. Assist with answering the phones and making appointments as needed
6. Other duties as needed

Time Commitment:  One shift per week preferred 3-month volunteer commitment Various shifts available on Mondays and Wednesdays: We currently need four volunteers to each work one 3-4-hour shift per week.  Responsibilities and Qualifications: Must be over 18 years of age The ability to treat people with dignity and respect at all times The ability to pick up 25 pounds from the floor to shoulder height The abilities to bend, stoop, sit, stand, pick up, step over, push and pull  The ability to communicate with shoppers If answering phones, the ability to use Windows-based computers and to communicate with people with heavy accents. The ability speak Spanish, Karen or Karenni is helpful, but not a requirement.Training is provided.

Our Donation Day volunteer positions are on site at Joseph's Coat. On Tuesdays and Thursdays we accept donations for clothing, housewares and hygiene items. Donation Day volunteer duties include:
1. Sorting items to our standard to place in the store
2. Helping to check donors in and assist them with donations
3. Helping to move donation items to keep the walkways clear
4. Checking the store to make sure that items are to our standards
5. Assisting with answering the phones and making appointments as needed
6. Other duties as needed

We are seeking help to schedule appointments, over the phone, for both shoppers and donors. We answer calls Monday-Thursday, from 9am-3pm. We are looking for a 2-3 volunteers to work one morning or afternoon each week for a 3-4 hour shift. Join our team and help make a positive impact in our community. Training is provided.

Requirements:
-Ability to answer up to 50 calls per day

-Ability to use computer scheduling software

-Ability to communicate with people of various background
