Provide preventive non-traumatic dental care to children in schools or community locations. 

Primary Responsibility:

To provide preventive and atraumatic caries arresting dental services within the scope of licensure. Work as a fluid team with individuals working at the top of their license. Carefully follow treatment list and track served children with proper entries into spreadsheet.

Patient Management:

Review of health history and consent for treatment and silver diamine fluoride (SDF)
(CHW staff assistants will present to provider) Chart each clinical findings for each child including soft tissue and occlusion
(CHW staff assistants will scribe) Provide toothbrush prophy and scaling Provide sealant application Provide fluoride varnish application Provide SDF application to carious teeth Determine if a tooth is treatable with ITR or SMART (Silver Modified Atraumatic Restorative Therapy) and perform technique. Complete chart notes Review take-home letter Staff to call families for all children identified with urgent needs

Personnel Requirements:
Background check required.

Education/Experience
Must be licensed to practice in Minnesota and meet other applicable state requirements

Interpersonal
Good interpersonal skills to maintain effective teamwork and atraumatic care to children. Good leadership skills. Maintain pleasant environment for children’s comfort.
Effective verbal and written skills.

 

What we do at Ready, Set, Smile ON-SITE DENTAL SERVICES

Each school receives preventive dental services and procedures to control dental decay for the students whose families sign up for them.  Treatments include:

Toothbrush cleanings and scaling

Sealants

Fluoride Varnish Application

Oral Hygiene Instruction

Silver Diamine Fluoride Application

Interim Therapeutic Restorations

ORAL HEALTH CLASSROOM EDUCATION

In our schools, we teach the students an oral health curriculum based on the science of a healthy oral lifestyle. In our early childhood programs, we teach the parents how to raise a decay-free child.

REFERRAL SERVICE

Community Health Workers contact the families of urgent-need children to refer them to our partner clinics for comprehensive care.

We are looking for volunteers who can help retrieve students from their classrooms,  deliver them to our temporary dental clinic set up in their school and once they've been seen by the dentist return them to their classrooms. Engage with the students while they wait for their turn with the Dentist and help them to understand how important oral health is to their whole being.
