Volunteer: ComMUSICation Board MemberAs a board member of ComMUSICation, your responsibilities are to, Establish the organization’s vision, mission, and purpose. Hire, monitor, and evaluate the Executive Director Provide proper financial oversight. Ensure the organization has adequate resources. Create a strategic plan and ensure that it’s followed. Ensure legal compliance and ethical integrity. Manage resources responsibly. Recruit and orient new board members and assess board performance. Enhance the organization’s public standing. Strengthen the organization’s programs and services.Board members are expected to, 1. Attend bimonthly board meetings: scheduled on the second Wednesday of the month from 5:30 to 7:30. In FY23, full board meetings will be held in person in St. Paul. Board members are expected to rsvp their attendance through the event invitation or by informing the board chair. Missing more than 3 meetings may result in dismissal from the board. 2. Participate actively: board members are expected to review financial and other documents in advance of the meeting and come ready to actively participate. Board members participate actively in deeper work by serving on at least one committee. 3. Support’s ComMUSICation’s fundraising efforts: this includes introducing ComMUSICation to others, bringing people to open rehearsals, fundraisers, and performances, and helping to cultivate and steward current CMC donors. 4. Give a personally significant annual gift: board members prioritize giving to ComMUSICation and give an annual gift that is personally meaningful. 5. Attend ComMUSICation events: board members are strongly encouraged to attend at least one open rehearsal and our spring showcase (typically in May). Board members serve a three-year term, with the option to renew for a second term. In the case of resignation, the Board Member will provide ample notice and help find his or her successor. Volunteer: 10th Anniversary Showcase CommitteeSummary: In our 2022-23 season, ComMUSICation will celebrate 10 years of providing high quality afterschool music programs. We will celebrate this important milestone by hosting our annual showcase at the Ordway Concert Hall. Youth participants will showcase their talents and celebrate their accomplishments. The concert will feature the premiere of a new piece for youth choir commissioned by CMC. We are looking for volunteers to help us make it a successful event! Time Commitment: 2-3 hours per month (possible additional hours in May), including one-hour monthly meetings from September through June Tasks you will support: Planning: support the development of the event’s overall goals and vision Communications: offer feedback on communication plans developed by staff and provide input on communication efforts, including outreach leading up to the event and messaging during the event Development: assist in the creation of sponsorship opportunities (including giving tiers, sponsor recognition, and brainstorming potential organizations for staff to contact) Logistics: support work with the venue, event flow, food, decorating, printed materials, activities, etc Outreach: help craft a guest list by identifying supporters, partners, funders, and other people to invite to attend Volunteer the day of the event: help with implementing the plan, including day of tasks such as setting up, welcoming guests, and cleaning upNonprofit: ComMUSICation Summary: In our 2022-23 season, ComMUSICation will celebrate 10 years of providing high quality afterschool music programs.
