The Kouba Gallery hosts a welcoming monthly Open House on the second Sunday of each month from 1–4 pm, and we’re looking for a few helpers for setup, light hospitality, and cleanup at our upcoming shows.

This is a simple, time-limited way to support a beautiful community art space — no long-term commitment required.

The Kouba Gallery is looking for Gallery Sitters — people who enjoy being in a beautiful, peaceful space and offering a warm, low-key welcome to visitors. This role is perfect for someone who loves art, enjoys reading or quiet time, and doesn’t mind occasionally saying hello and answering a simple question.

You don’t need to “host” or run events. We will provide all the information you need. Your role is simply to be present, help visitors feel comfortable, and let the gallery be open and inviting.

What This Actually Looks Like

Sit in the gallery or front foyer during a scheduled open hour

Read a book, drink tea, enjoy the space

Greet visitors as they arrive and let them know they’re welcome

Share basic information about the exhibition if asked (we provide this)

Let visitors explore at their own pace

Ensure the space is left tidy at the end of your shift

Schedule & Commitment

Weekly or monthly shifts, scheduled in advance

Typical shifts are 2–3 hours

We’re looking for people who can commit to a consistent day and time, so visitors know when the gallery is open and welcoming

The Kouba Gallery is seeking a Social Media Assistant to help document and share everything that makes our exhibitions special — from new shows and artist spotlights to open houses and behind-the-scenes moments. This role is perfect for someone who enjoys visual storytelling, writing short captions, and helping meaningful creative work reach a broader audience.

This is a clear, contained role: you won’t be designing strategy, managing accounts alone, or chasing content. You’ll be posting what’s already happening — turning real events into engaging social media moments.

What You’ll Do

Post regularly about current and upcoming exhibitions

Share artist spotlights, quotes, and work from shows

Promote monthly open houses, receptions, and special events

Capture or repost photos from installations, events, and gallery life

Help maintain a consistent, warm, and visually engaging presence

Coordinate lightly with gallery leadership to ensure accuracy and timing

Do you love art, nature, and building community? The Kouba Gallery is seeking a dedicated Volunteer Coordinator to help lead our dynamic, nature-inspired gallery space inside the Chapter House of the Minnesota Valley Chapter of the Izaak Walton League.

The Kouba Gallery showcases rotating exhibitions exploring the human relationship with nature through painting, photography, sculpture, and youth-led art. Each month, our open houses and community events bring people together to celebrate creativity, conservation, and connection. Volunteers are essential to making this possible, and we’re looking for someone who can help cultivate, welcome, and inspire them.

What You’ll Do:

Build relationships with new and returning volunteers, helping them feel connected and appreciated.Recruit and welcome volunteers for gallery installations, open houses, artist receptions, and community events.Coordinate communication by sharing opportunities, reminders, and updates in a friendly and encouraging way.Attend and represent the gallery at the monthly open house, serving as a welcoming presence and connector.Support a vibrant community culture where volunteers feel they are part of something meaningful—at the intersection of art and conservation. We are looking for a Special Event Coordinator to help us dream big, plan well, and execute unforgettable experiences.

If you love organizing events, managing details, and creating memorable atmospheres, this role is for you. As the Special Event Coordinator, you’ll be the person who ensures that every reception, show opening, or celebration not only runs smoothly but also leaves a lasting impression on guests.

What You’ll Do:

Plan and lead special events such as exhibition receptions, community celebrations, and artist showcases.

Coordinate logistics, including catering, music, décor, and program flow.

Work closely with artists and volunteers to ensure their vision and contributions shine.

Oversee set-up and take-down, ensuring events run seamlessly from start to finish.

Bring creative energy to enhance the guest experience and reflect the gallery’s mission of blending art and conservation.

Time Commitment:

About 8–10 hours per month, with a concentration of time around major exhibitions and events.

A 1-year commitment is preferred to help create consistency in our event programming.
