Volunteer: Every Meal Volunteer Delivery Driver

Every Meal is looking for volunteer delivery drivers who can commit to a minimum of two 5 hour shifts each month during the school year. Every Meal Volunteer Delivery Drivers will use the Every Meal van to deliver boxes of food bags from our facility in Roseville, MN to our partner schools in and around the Twin Cities Metro area.

Training:

This is a physical role which requires training prior to making your first delivery.Volunteers will ride along with one of our delivery drivers as part of the training.Volunteers will be trained on loading and unloading the van, safety, and our delivery protocol.

Schedule:

Delivery shifts are Monday through Thursday mornings from 8am - 1pm during the school year, with the knowledge that deliveries may be completed before the end of the scheduled shift.

Qualifications:

Clean Motor Vehicle Driving RecordAble to pass a background check.Ability to push, pull, lift, bend. Every Meal boxes weigh between 25-30 lbs each and are delivered on rolling metal carts (maximum of 12 boxes per cart) or push carts (maximum 8 boxes). The van has a lift gate to assist in loading and unloading.Ability to communicate clearly with staff and able to receive and understand assignments.Friendly, courteous, and respectful to staff, volunteers, and community partners.Must be 18 years or older.

Volunteer: Volunteer Order Builder

Order Building at Every Meal is a specialized role. 

We ask that Order Builder volunteers be able to commit to a minimum of two 2-3 hour shifts each month during the school year.  Volunteers must be trained prior to joining the volunteer Order Builder team. 

We are in need of more Order Builders this school year!

What to Order Builders at Every Meal do?

Order Building Volunteers help prepare boxes of completed food bags for delivery to our partner schools and community sites across Minnesota. As an Order Builder, you’ll be putting boxes or totes of food bags weighing 25-30lbs each onto pallets or carts, preparing them for delivery by our drivers. This role involves:

Working in a sometimes loud warehouse environment Paying attention to detail or errorsUsing a scanner to pick orders Ability to stand for long periods of time, bending, and lifting boxes up to 30 pounds Ability to commit to volunteering once a week or twice a month A minimum of 18 years and older. Order Building volunteers who would like to operate the electric pallet jack (not required for this volunteer opportunity) must be trained and certified by Every Meal staff.

Please note: No experience or diploma needed; Every Meal will provide all necessary training. We strongly encourage people of color, indigenous, immigrants, refugees, LGBTQ+, and people with disabilities to volunteer.

 

Health and Safety

Closed-toed shoes are required for volunteering. You may bring a water bottle if desired but we do have water fountains available. Masks are currently not required but are encouraged if that is your preference as part of our continued efforts to follow CDC guidelines. As a Food Bag Packing Volunteer, you’ll join other members of the community at our Volunteer Center in Roseville to help pack food for our Weekend Meal Program. In this high-energy and high-impact volunteer opportunity, you’ll form assembly lines to pack bags containing 4-5 Lbs of shelf-stable fruits, vegetables, proteins and grains. Every food bag we distribute to hungry children in our community is packed by volunteers. Food bags are placed in the backpacks of students at the end of each school week to provide nutrition over the weekend.

We have several opportunities most weeks during the school year to come pack food bags with us. You can register for our packing events as a team or an individual.

Our age minimum to volunteer is 8 years old.

Closed-toed shoes are required for volunteering. Masks are currently not required.
