SENIOR COMPANIONS serve older adults by providing friendly in-home visits and transportation.

FOSTER GRANDPARENTS share their wisdom and experience by mentoring and tutoring children and youth in the community.

Once tutoring begins, young people get the chance to work on important academic and life skills until 8:30pm each night.

With COVID precautions, GNC is being extra cautious to help keep everyone safe in the building. Everyone washes hands upon arrival and we are still wearing masks at GNC. GNC also works to address the effects of COVID on young people by providing educational opportunities for them year-round through our tutoring program. We work to help them stay on-level and understand information and subjects that are relevant to their curriculum at school.

This back-to-school season, Living Room Tutors is in need of more volunteer tutors! Because of the ongoing pandemic, many students are experiencing difficulties maintaining their academic trajectories. Living Room Tutors hopes to mitigate the negative repercussions of prolonged school closures by fostering connections between volunteer student tutors and students in need of tutoring.

Living Room Tutors is looking for capable high school and college students to take on the task of tutoring their younger peers and helping them through this difficult time. Tutoring is completely virtual and flexible to your work hours. Interested volunteers do NOT need to contact us, simply fill out our registration form, found below and also on our website. Volunteer dinner groups purchase, prepare, and serve a nutritious meal to 21 residents at our emergency shelter every night of the year. It’s a perfect opportunity for families, congregations, co-workers, or friends to join together for a fun and fulfilling evening! 

Volunteers can use our shelter kitchen to cook a meal, or cook at home and bring the meal ready to go! We have so many open dates and could use any support we can get.

Our Emergency Shelter is home to 21 men and women everyday of the year who are experiencing homelessness. We are in need of a volunteers to help provide and serve dinner. Dinner is served at 7:00 pm each night and ends around 8:30 pm. 

This opportunity is best suited for groups of 3 to 4 with the total onsite time ranging between 1-2 hours. Families, congregations, co-workers, or friends can join together for a full and fulfilling evening to get started is easy.

PURPOSE:
The purpose of your position is to "create smiles in the eyes of people we serve" by fulfilling Presbyterian Homes’ mission and operating philosophies.
The volunteer order fulfillment opportunity would assist staff by packaging finished meal products for distribution and delivery. This position will stage orders, portion beverages per order and assemble client "meals to order" consistent with regulations and established policies, procedures and best practices. The Packer may assist in other Senior Dining departments as directed by a supervisor.
Volunteers would be participating in the following:
Check for appearance and quality of goods and food items. Assemble goods and food items in preparation of fulfilling client orders. Fill client orders, with frozen meals, snacks, fresh good items into individual delivery bags. Assemble delivery bags by route, and store in designated areas. Seek clarification from supervisor if there is a question regarding fulfillment of client orders correctly

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
1. Able to work independently, multi task, and follow directions and be attentive to details; Must be a detail oriented.
2. Experience working quickly, managing given workload within each day and prioritizing tasks to meet demands.
3. Must be willing to work in a regulated refrigerated environment regularly or depending on the task
4. Demonstrated compatibility with PHS's mission and operating philosophies.
5. Demonstrated ability to read, write, speak and understand the English language to communicate with all

Looking for a skilled photographer to take photos of our theatre productions for promotional and archival purposes. 

Requirement: Photography and editing skills, access to your own camera and editing software. Experience with theatre, concert, or event photography a bonus, but not required!

Time Commitment: One staged photo shoot per main stage production (10-12 staged shots; 1 hour; before or after the rehearsal), typically on the Wednesday night before opening, plus editing.

Patient Cart Activator

The purpose of the Patient cart is to bring a bit of cheer and complimentary items to patients and guests while they are on our campus. Volunteers will round the hospital units and waiting rooms offering boredom buster activities such as sudukos, coloring books, and playing cards. This position requires two volunteers, so it is a great opportunities for friends and siblings who want to volunteer together.

Simpson Housing operates a shelter for homeless adults and housing programs for individuals and families moving into housing. Our goal is to provide every new guest that walks through our doors a new, clean blanket for their bed. We're running out of blankets and will need them for the coming winter months!

Our emergency overnight shelter serves 44 men and 22 women every night in south Minneapolis. We provide meals, showers, laundry, and basic hygiene supplies. We're running out of several items and can use your help!

Help provide Simpson Housing’s Emergency Homeless Shelter with basic self-care supplies that everyone deserves! Each night 66 single adults sleep at the shelter and we offer basic needs for everyone on their first night, then throughout their stay. These basic supplies are crucial to making sure that guests feel comfortable, dignified, and healthy.

We serve 66 homeless adults in our shelter every night and about 95 cups of coffee. You can help by organizing a coffee drive!

If you're a coffee drinker, I know you appreciate how a hot cup can make you feel ready for your day. Shelter guests get up as early as 3 am to take several buses to get to work and coffee helps them out the door. Many of our guests drink a cup of decaf in the evening, hungry and waiting for dinner.

For non-coffee drinkers, we also can use tea bags and hot cocoa packets!

Although we purchase our coffee from a warehouse store, it still is a large expense. We brew both caffeinated and decaf and we would welcome any brand or size (must be ground).

Simpson Shelter needs covert volunteers to go undercover and bring us undergarments!

Our shelter serves 22 women and 44 men each night. We can use men's boxers, women's underwear, bras, t-shirts, and socks. We all know that we feel our best when we have decent and clean undergarments.

All items must be new, of course.

Bring us your donation of new items or put a box out in your workplace or faith community to collect items from people you know.

Ushers greet and seat audience members; assemble programs; help with concessions; straighten up after the performance. Training is provided.

Our specially-trained servers will sell wine and beer at our performances. As with other jobs at the theatre, it is a volunteer position (and servers cannot accept tips.) Ideally, servers work at least once per show during our 6-show season (September-July). All servers must agree to abide by theatre policies, including Code of Conduct, Anti-Discrimination and Harassment, and Alcohol Serving Policies

At MVOB, we choose blankets for children ages 2-17 based on their individual requests.

Fleece blankets are a great way to make sure a child’s bedding matches their interests. This opportunity is also great for individuals and groups.

We welcome individuals, families, work teams, youth groups, and others to help us deliver beds and dream-kits to kids in our community. 

Deliveries are Fridays and Saturdays from 9:00 am - 12:30pm.

We are in great need of Friday volunteers!

What our volunteers do: First, you'll help My Very Own Bed staff assemble Dream Kits (sheets, blanket, pillow, book, & stuffed animal) to go with each bed. Then you'll follow our delivery van in your own vehicle, and help deliver beds to 2-4 families' homes around the Twin Cities. At each home, we'll carry mattresses, frames and Dream Kits from the truck to the home. This is a wonderful opportunity for families with kids- we have the kids assemble the Dream Kits and then they're put in charge in carrying the Dream Kits into the families' homes. Families' are given the option of having us set up the beds. This is a great way for volunteers to interact with parents and children! 

Accessibility: Volunteers who cannot/don't want to lift 50+ pounds are invited to carry Dream Kits rather than mattresses/bedframes. Volunteers must have their own vehicle to participate in deliveries, but you will not need to put any beds or supplies in your car. We prioritize the safety of the families that we serve and require a face mask when we go into families' homes.

Host Families At ACES we believe that the host family component of our programs is the most important aspect of the cross-cultural exchange experience as it allows American families the rewarding experience of having a new family member from another country, while offering program participants the opportunity to become a member of an American family and to be immersed in everyday American culture. 1. Attend bimonthly board meetings: scheduled on the second Wednesday of the month from 5:30 to 7:30. In FY23, full board meetings will be held in person in St. Paul.

Board members are expected to rsvp their attendance through the event invitation or by informing the board chair. Missing more than 3 meetings may result in dismissal from the board.

2. Participate actively: board members are expected to review financial and other documents in advance of the meeting and come ready to actively participate. 

Board members participate actively in deeper work by serving on at least one committee.

3. Support’s ComMUSICation’s fundraising efforts: this includes introducing ComMUSICation to others, bringing people to open rehearsals, fundraisers, and performances, and helping to cultivate and steward current CMC donors.

4. Give a personally significant annual gift: board members prioritize giving to ComMUSICation and give an annual gift that is personally meaningful. 

5. Attend ComMUSICation events: board members are strongly encouraged to attend at least one open rehearsal and our spring showcase (typically in May). 

Board members serve a three-year term, with the option to renew for a second term. In the case of resignation, the Board Member will provide ample notice and help find his or her successor.

Summary: In our 2022-23 season, ComMUSICation will celebrate 10 years of providing high quality afterschool music programs. We will celebrate this important milestone by hosting our annual showcase at the Ordway Concert Hall. Youth participants will showcase their talents and celebrate their accomplishments. The concert will feature the premiere of a new piece for youth choir commissioned by CMC. We are looking for volunteers to help us make it a successful event!

After-School Writing Lab is a writing and tutoring program for students ages 7 and older. In After-School Writing Lab, volunteer tutors work one-on-one or in small groups with students on homework, reading practice, creative writing prompts, and games.

Volunteers for this position must be fully vaccinated.

Volunteers, staff, and students will all be wearing masks and capacity will be limited to keep us all safe.

Available shifts are Mondays–Thursdays, 3:30–5 p.m. and/or 5–6:30 p.m.

Newport Library is a volunteer run library in the small river City of Newport, MN. This quaint community just southeast of St. Paul is one of the oldest communities in the Twin Cities Metro. The city boasts a 132-year-old Library. We invite you to become a part of this beautiful legacy of literacy and community support by becoming a Volunteer in our beautiful little library. 

Library Volunteers assist patrons with item check-out, computer use, scanning, printing, laminating, and most importantly being a resource. Volunteers are the heart of this lovely space. No prior library experience is necessary. Volunteers must be 18 years of age or older and willing to work alone. The primary job of the Volunteer is to be a friendly face.  Because we work with children and vulnerable adults, Volunteers must pass a background check including fingerprinting. Summit Academy OIC is looking for a volunteer Accuplacer Tutor to support adult students wanting to enroll in Summit’s vocational programs. Tutors can cover Reading, Writing, or Math in their tutoring times. Materials will be provided.

GRP will launch the program virtually in the fall of 2022.

The Trainer will work alongside the Mentor Program team to deliver the program curriculum to Mentors. The Trainer is responsible for leading this process by mapping out and facilitating a virtual training program for Mentor groups. Training sessions will take place monthly over the course of six – eight months.

What is the commitment?

Being a Peer Buddy is a one year commitment. Buddy pairs see each other in-person once a month and will also maintain weekly contact via phone, text message, email and/or other forms of communication. There are also monthly group events to attend with other Citizens buddy pairs.

Who is eligible to participate?

Anyone over the age of 18 who lives in the Twin Cities (Greater Minneapolis/St. Paul) area is eligible to participate. Each participant must complete a background check that costs $18. Our innovative and successful therapy dog program focuses on social-emotional learning to give students the tools to better self-regulate—in the classroom and in life. Through customizable sessions, we partner with schools and organizations in the Twin Cities to offer programming that connects with their young learners.

Members are elected to a two-year (2) term, and may serve up to two (2) consecutive terms, for a total of four (4) years. Executive officers may serve a full or partial third term (maximum 6 years) if all parties agree.

The Board of Directors meet six (6) times a year. The principal responsibilities of each Board member include the following:

PARTICIPATION & OVERSIGHT

Provide ongoing oversight and evaluation of Ballet Co.Laboratory’s operations and performance by working alongside fellow Board and staff members. Duties include, but not limited to:

              o Assure that the affairs of Ballet Co.Laboratory are conducted in a fiscally responsible of the organization.

              o Oversee and evaluate the progress of the strategic plan, ensuring that it directly connects to the mission, vision, and
                 values of the organization.

              o NurturethefutureleadershipandgovernanceofBalletCo.Laboratorybysubmitting nominees annually for consideration to  
                 vacancies on the Board of Directors.

              o Maintain confidentiality of committee, Board, and organization work, while remaining independent of any personal
                 agenda, self-interest, or influence of external parties.

              o As appropriate, be available for questions/comments/concerns from BCLstaff and parents/students of The School of  
                Ballet Co.Laboratory and respond in a timely manner to communication.

              o Oversee the selection and performance of the Artistic and Managing Directors.

AMBASSADORSHIP & BOARD ENGAGEMENT 

Champion the mission, vision, values, and goals of the organization by serving as an ambassador of Ballet Co.Laboratory to community leaders, patrons, corporations, partner organizations, parents/students of The School of Ballet Co.Laboratory, and others within personal and professional circles.

Assist in the development/training of Company dancers’ administrative roles/responsibilities where appropriate.

Stay informed about Ballet Co.Laboratory’s performance season, The School of Ballet Co.Laboratory, Outreach programs, and other connections to our community by:

    o Observing at least (1) Ballet Co.Laboratory Outreach program and (1) School of Ballet Co.Laboratory class during
       tenure.

    o Attend the five productions in Ballet Co.Laboratory’s annual performance season.

Represent the Board, and support the cultivation of new audiences/donors, by attending (1) special event each season (excluding our fall fundraising performance/event, that is in addition). Members are asked to invite guests from their personal network who are perceived to be interested in learning more about our work. Special events include rehearsal sneak peeks, opening night receptions, meet-n-greets, and more.

FUNDRAISING

• Be an active participant in Ballet Co.Laboratory’s fundraising activities. Members are expected to:

    o Assist the organization in identifying potential donors and prospects for the organization. As part of these efforts, members
      may be asked to host a cultivation event for donors/prospects on behalf of the organization (backstage tour, opening night
      party, performance...).

    o Members are asked to help pitch sponsorship and/or grant support from their place of business if a corporate giving program
       is in place.

    o Contribute a personal gift to the annual fund each year. The Board believes that financial contribution is a core responsibility
       and that the Board must lead for others to follow. The Board has set a standard of 100% participation in the annual fund as a  
       statement of our leadership, accountability for Ballet Co.Laboratory’s financial stability, and respect for our donor base
      (granting foundations often expect 100% board participation).

While philanthropic capacity will vary on the Board, members are asked to make Ballet Co.Laboratory a top priority in their philanthropic plans. The Board’s minimum unrestricted personal gift is currently $2,500 per year, with the hopes that members will consider larger gifts when possible. Personal giving is distinct and independent from ticket purchases, silent/live auction items won, employer matching gift contributions, and monies leveraged from corporate funders.

Volunteers will ensure customers are boarded safely and start the ride. They will monitor the ride, ensuring the fun and safety of all guests. 

Volunteers schedule themselves as often as it works in their schedules with AM and PM shifts available, ranging from 3- 4 hours each. Volunteers earn free ride tickets to share with family and friends. They are invited to volunteer only special events. Volunteers receive a discount at The Gift Shop at Cafesjian's Carousel. There is reserved parking directly behind the carousel building while volunteering.

The Greeter/Crowd Awareness position has the responsibility of helping riders / guests stay safe and have fun while entering and exiting the carousel building.

2022 Daily Shifts are:

Weekdays - 10:30 - 1:30 pm and 1:15-4:15 pm.

Weekends - 10:30 - 2:30 pm and 2:15-6:15 pm.

Volunteers should be available for a minimum of 2 shifts a month.

Carousel volunteers have reserved parking spots directly behind the carousel building.

We are looking for great people all year long.

Volunteers keep the doors of the Newport Library open. You are a friendly face. You do not have to be a computer wiz but should have familiarity with a computer. You are simply asked to be friendly and as helpful as you can be. Training will be provided. There is optional book shelving, and tidying up. You will help people check-out books, may occasionally send a fax or make a photocopy. Volunteers do have to fill out a volunteer application and have a background check. Volunteers must be 18 years of age or older to work alone.

In an effort to open more hours, we are looking for people that would like to work daytime or after school hours. These volunteer staff members will choose their own hours. Hours should be consistent, but we will be able to find a substitute to assist.

Girls Are Powerful (GRP) is launching its Mentor Program, which will bring together girls ages 8-17 of all races, cultures, and lived experiences to discover and embrace their identities and use their power to positively impact their communities. This program will connect groups of girls with Peer Mentors and Adult Mentors, who will guide participants through a three-year curriculum within a safe environment for sharing and growth. GRP will launch the program virtually in the fall of 2022.

Role Summary

Peer Mentors are high school or college-aged students aged 16-23 who are interested in sharing their own lived experiences with younger girls and serving as a role model in their community. As Peer Mentors, they will be paired with an adult woman mentor to facilitate virtual mentorship sessions for groups of girls ages 8-11.

Peer Mentors are committed to working alongside their Adult Mentor to create a welcoming environment for their group of mentees using Girls Are Powerful principles.  Peer Mentors will help guide their girls in acquiring and applying the knowledge, skills, and attitudes to discover their differences, acknowledge their essence, build their esteem, embrace their power, and establish and maintain supportive relationships.   

Peer Mentors have a demonstrated commitment to social and racial justice, an understanding of the societal challenges that many are facing and experience working with people of different backgrounds.

Time Commitment: 10-12 hours per month

Volunteers spend time with individuals who have mild to moderate memory loss while their caregivers take a break or attend support groups and programs offered by the Center or others in the community.  Time commitment is flexible.

Volunteers provide socialization, meaningful activities and friendly visiting. Visits typcially  place in client’s home. 

The purpose and role of this position is to provide safe and nurturing support for the person with memory loss while giving their Caregiver (typically a spouse or family member) an opportunity to take a break from his/her care giving responsibilities. Provide visiting and activities that are meaningful and appropriate to the stage of memory loss. Memory Companion training session includes volunteer orientation and ongoing connection with Center Staff.

Help our community elders safely enjoy their yards this spring and summer! Tasks include raking up leaves, bagging up yard waste, and taking yard bags to the compost site. We welcome individual volunteers and groups to help us provide this much-needed service to older adults. This is a very flexible opportunity – we can work with your availability to schedule your volunteering.

Schedule:  Services are weather dependent, but we generally provide spring cleanup in April and May. Sign up now and we’ll schedule you with one of our seniors when the weather warms up!
