MRC’s mission is to strengthen the MN recovery community, specifically individuals, family, and loved ones who have been impacted by Substancd Use Disorders. We do so through peer support, public education to reduce stigma and demonstrate recovery from addiction is to be celebrated like recovery from any other chronic disease, and we also participate in advocacy efforts as simple as teaching individuals recovery messaging, how to tell their own story in a way that appeals to the public and shifts away from death and darkness. We also do advocacy at the state legislative level, being ambassadors representing our community and the faces and voices of the 25 million (and growing) healthy and productive individuals in Recovery in the US. Move the focus away from words like “epidemic” “crisis” “overdose” “moral failings” “death” (which of course are real life and need to be addressed), but really shifting that public perception away from the fact that addiction is death and chaos and the destruction of families. We offer a diverse menu of services, let individuals make decisions regarding what works for them, and support multiple and all pathways to recovery.
