Who We Are
By partnering with teachers and students in under-resourced schools, the Kids In Need Foundation provides the support needed for teachers to teach and learners to learn. The Kids In Need Foundation Resource Center, operates as a free store for eligible teachers serving at area schools where at least 50% of students are enrolled in the federal free or reduced lunch program.
We believe every child in America should have equal opportunity and access to a quality education.
It's more than just a backpack.
What We Do
The Kids In Need Foundation provides needed supplies to both teachers and students. In our 25 years, we have distributed more than $1 billion in supplies to kids who would otherwise go without.
Students: When families can barely afford rent and groceries, school supplies just can’t be a priority. Students receive supplies from the Kids In Need Foundation via school distribution events through our School Ready Supplies program and, for those affected by natural disasters, our Second Responder(r) program.
Teachers: On average, teachers spend $564 per year from their own pockets on school supplies for their classrooms. Teachers can receive supplies from the Kids In Need Foundation via one of our Teacher Resource Centers across the country or by applying for a classroom supply Boxes through our SupplyATeacher.org program.
The fulfillment for our national programs occurs at our Teacher Resource Center in Roseville, MN. We are always looking for volunteers willing to lend a hand to our mission.
GROUPS: Up to 50, both adults and youth, minimum age of 10 with at least 1 adult for every 5 minors.
INDIVIDUALS: Need individuals to help check out teachers, stock, clean, sort donated items and warehouse work.
