What We Do

WHY IS HABITAT NEEDED?

1 in 3 Americans have housing challenges

The biggest problems are a lack of affordability, overcrowding, unsafe conditions and homelessness. In the Twin Cities metro area, more than half a million people (20% of the population), must spend too much of their income on housing. This percentage is growing faster in Minnesota than in any other state. This creates tremendous instability in our communities, weakens our economy, and even impacts our health and educational success.

HABITAT HELPS FAMILIES:
  • Provide stability for their children
  • Gain improved health, physical safety, and security
  • Increase educational and job prospects
  • Be engaged in their communities
