Eight volunteers assist with greeting patients, collecting evaluations and distributing thank-you gifts. Shifts are 8am-12pm and 12pm-4pm both days; two volunteers are needed for each shift.
May is Mental Health Month
On eight Tuesdays and Thursdays in May, volunteers will be paired with employees to staff a table in our lobbies to promote NorthPoint’s Behavioral Health Services and share great information about how to deal with every day stress. Shifts are 8:30-11:30am, 11am-2pm and 1:30-4:30pm.
*Produce Distribution/Outdoor Markets:
May through September, every other Friday 7:30am-12:30pm, volunteers assist our staff distributing free produce and more to our community members. It is a great way to spend a morning outdoors serving families with good food and our community partners promote their programs and services as well. Twenty-five volunteers are needed each morning. The 2022 dates are TBD.
National Health Center Week:
NorthPoint thanks our patients, clients, volunteers and community members throughout this week in August, Monday through Friday, with gift bags and refreshments in our lobbies. Volunteers help staff our tables and promote these great events with tours of our health and wellness center. More details are forthcoming.
*Fit4Fun:
Our Annual Fit4Fun event will be on the 6th Saturday in September. We will be partnering with the City of Minneapolis – Open Streets on Broadway again this year. This event will include group aerobics, music, dancing, prizes, healthy food options, children's activities, health and wellness information and most importantly, fun! We welcome you to be a volunteer 10:30am-5:00pm for a 2-3 hour shift and then be a participant for the rest of the event and bring your family and friends!
School Health Screenings:
Volunteers assist staff in doing health screenings for children in our North Minneapolis community in September, October and November. Screenings include hearing, vision, height and weight. Parents receive results and instructions about next steps if they are needed. Four volunteers are needed each day for these 5 weeks/20 days of screenings.
Here is the schedule:
*Toys for Tots:
As a Twin Cities distribution site for the U.S. Marine Corps Reserve Toys for Tots, we help parents/guardians sign up for free toys for their children in November and then they return for two days in December to pick out toys for their children. Volunteers help with distribution Friday and Saturday and help make happy holidays for our community.
*Youth 14 and 15 years old can volunteer when chaperoned by an adult. Youth 16 and 17 years old can volunteer with prior parent/guardian written approval (form provided).
