Who We Are
The Minnesota Zoo opened in1978 and is located in Apple Valley, MN on 500 acres of beautiful rolling woodland, prairie, lakes and wetlands. By exhibiting species in naturalistic settings, our guests traverse pathways around the Zoo representing animals that live in the state of Minnesota, greater northern hemisphere countries, various tropical climates, and ocean waters around the globe. Home to almost 5,000 animals representing 533 species, the Minnesota is recognized as a leader in the conservation of animals and habitats no only here in Minnesota but around the world.
What We Do
Our conservation programs protect endangered and threatened species and preserve critical ecosystems here in Minnesota and around the world. Our award-winning education programs engage participants to learn more about protecting our earth and it's inhabitants. The Minnesota Zoo offers memories of a lifetime to young and old alike. Our mission is connect people, animals and the natural world to save wildlife.
