Who We Are
High Tech Kids is a Minnesota 501 (c)(3) nonprofit and is an affiliate partner of FIRST charged with supporting FIRST LEGO League and FIRST Tech Challenge teams in Minnesota by offering training, tournament opportunities, volunteer coordination and community outreach. Since its inception in 1999, High Tech Kids has grown from serving 175 youth to more than 67,000 students across the state, with the help of over 2,500 volunteers.
What We Do
We host robotics tournaments for the FIRST LEGO League and FIRST Tech Challenge programs throughout the State of Minnesota. We are seeking volunteers to serve as judges, referees, and computer support during these tournaments on weekends from November through February. These positions work directly with students to judge their work in a variety of categories (research projects, teamwork, outreach, community service, and technical robot design) or referee the matches between robots. Technical and non-technical individuals are encouraged to volunteer! We provide training and shadowing opportunities to all volunteers. Minimum of ONE day volunteer commitment! GROUPS: Size to 50, adults only.
