Who We Are
The Friends in Need Food Shelf (FiN) is a 501(c)(3) community-funded food shelf located in South Washington County. We have been supporting the community with community support since 1992.
What We Do
Our goal is to provide food and other necessary support to those in need, with a mission of ending hunger in our community. FiN:
- Serves residents from all over the Twin Cities, with a focus on South Washington County and the cities of St. Paul Park, Newport, Cottage Grove, and Grey Cloud Island. We turn no one in need away!
- Provides food to 250-270 families, totally approximately 5,000 individuals each week. 40% of those household members are children.
- Distributed over 1.2 million pounds of food and other goods in 2025.
- Operates with the support of over 125 individuals who donate their time each week, making us a 99% volunteer-operated organization.
- Relies on donations and grants for over 50% of our annual operating budget.
