Food insecurity is a crisis in our community and it has been accelerated by the pandemic. An incredible 1 in 8 of our neighbors are in danger of going hungry. SACA needs weekly volunteers to help support your neighbors who depend on our services. Your dedication of time means the world to us and to the people we serve. We are welcoming volunteers, who can commit to 3-4 hours on a weekly or biweekly basis in the food market, warehouse and reception.
Since its founding in 1976, SACA Food Shelf and Thrift Store has remained committed to providing basic needs services to Columbia Heights, and many surrounding communities. Our goal is to serve participants with dignity and respect, in hopes of providing a pathway to stability and self sufficiency. We have developed systems using community input so that we can provide the best care possible in order to accomplish our mission of providing food and resources to those in need, while empowering dignity and independence to those we serve in our community.
We are only as strong as the community that surrounds us and we are thankful for the support of our neighbors, our hardworking volunteers, our generous funders, and of course our participants who teach us about strength and perseverance on a daily basis.
SACA Food Shelf & Thrift Store (Southern Anoka Community Assistance) is a 501 (c)(3) non-profit food shelf.
