ORGANIZATION’S CHALLENGE:
With an entirely volunteer-run organization, pausing to review the website for non-urgent changes, UX, and accessibility has not been possible. With support from tech experts, LOTT leaders would like to explore these elements and make their website more inclusive, which reflects their strategic goals.
From a brand standpoint, LOTT feels satisfied with their basic website set-up, which is hosted by Wix. The organization is in the process of recruiting a new volunteer to make website updates but would like to document instructions with tech experts for non-technical volunteers to successfully back-up this role as needed. Currently, LOTT is running into challenges when a new page gets added and not all formatting carries over such as the heading and website navigation bar making the page appear inconsistent. They also feel that some of their webpages (such as FAQs) are too cluttered and would like to utilize dropdowns to streamline content. Leaders would also like to explore how Instagram content can be integrated on their homepage by embedding the feed and making the most recent content appear first. Current volunteers lack the time and, in some cases, the expertise to make larger website changes and by partnering with tech experts, the organization wants to achieve this goal. In addition to these changes, leaders would like an audit of their website’s UX and accessibility. Questions they have include: could website navigation be improved and what steps can they take to make their website more accessible to all users? Currently, no accessibility measures have been taken.
With improvements to the website and accessibility measures in place, LOTT can continue their work to increase brand awareness, so more women and gender non-conforming individuals discover their leadership development program.
