ORGANIZATION: Minnesota Lace Society

MISSION STATEMENT: The mission statement for the Minnesota Lace Society is to provide education of, by, and for the membership and the public concerning all aspects of lace.
ORGANIZATION’S CHALLENGE:
Minnesota Lace Society is a volunteer-run organization seeking tech support to finish a website transition project that began in 2024.
During the last CFC: Tech Day event, a team of volunteers started a new website in collaboration with Minnesota Lace Society in WordPress. The organization loved the look and feel of the new website, but lacked capacity and expertise to complete the transition on their own. What’s left to complete is some general clean-up work such as moving images to the correct places, and determining if a membership database can be developed and launched simulatenously within the new website. Leaders would like this to be a secure platform for members to access each other’s contact information, review member-only classes, and membership details. An additional desire is the ability for members to register for events in this section of the website if applicable. Besides wanting to switch to this new, modern website they began, Minnesota Lace Society’s current website hosted by HostGator no longer offers a HTML editor feature, making website updates hard to administer.
With support from tech experts, the organization would like to finish the layout and design of their new website. Following that, they’d like to review the needs for their member-only section. If it’s possible to build out the membership platform day-of, they’d like to proceed, and if not, determine the steps needed to complete the project on their own. Additonal training and documentation for volunteers on WordPress is also desired.
Minnesota Lace Society looks forward to collaborating with tech experts and getting their new website over the finish line.
