MISSION STATEMENT: To help children and youth in north Minneapolis overcome the obstacles to their development presented by the inner-city environment.
ORGANIZATION’S CHALLENGE:
New Directions Youth Ministry is at an exciting stage in their programming with a capital campaign underway to develop a new hockey sports pavilion in North Minneapolis. This is slated to open next winter and will support the organization’s hockey and figure skating program. In the meantime, leaders of the organization would like to review the website hosted by Squarespace, with particular attention to this program.
Currently, a board member serves as the webmaster and makes updates as needed for the organization. However, their time is limited and taking a closer look at web design and UX is desired. With tech experts, leaders would like to make the hockey and figure skating page as dynamic and eye-catching as possible as the organization’s key program. They’d also like to review the current, online registration form to brainstorm any way to further streamline the process for families knowing an in-person component will always be present to collect gear and uniforms. Leaders also know that many families utilize their cell phone to view program information, and ensuring the website is accessible to cell phone users is necessary. Finally, the organization is in the process of sunsetting two programs while continuing to focus on two others – hockey and figure skating and self-sufficiency. Determining a roadmap for a new overall website layout that reflects this change is needed.
Through improvements to their website, New Directions Youth Ministry can highlight the strides happening in their hockey program and figure skating program and improve user experience for new and returning families.

This spot is for the Project Lead Role - Project Leads help facilitate the meetings, guiding the team through the agendas, keeping folks on task and conversation flowing, inclusive of all voices. Project leads do not need to have expertise in all aspects of the challenge but rather have strong leadership and facilitation skills. They will also help schedule the scoping call.
